An Awkward meeting [Closed]
It had been a mentally exhausting day, not that Suzaku didn't usually have those but today had been especially trying. He still couldn't believe that Euphemia was alive and here, it made no sense. None at all, she had been dead a year. Suzaku, despite not wanting to, was starting to think those that were speaking of other worlds might actually be on to something. Of couse that didn't explain why Euphemia, who was dead was in this place, this world if it was a different world to his own.
He stood stiffly and nervously waiting for Gino, the Knight had not looked pleased when he had sugested this meeting and though Suzaku knew that Gino couldn't remember anything the Knight wasn't stupid. Not by a long way and so of course he had worked out that things wern't quite right.
He would want answers and Suzaku was not sure he could provide them, because he was missing memories as well and not just his family name. Still Gino had said to meet him so here he was, he stood ready waiting for his Player.

He needed answers.
"Yo," he didn't move closer, and the greeting lacked its usual accompanying smile, "You wanna tell me what's going on?" He'd give him a chance to come clean of his own accord, first. A test of his suspicions. Which he really, honestly hoped the older knight would pass.

Honestly things had been hard enough back in there own place, world, without them being brought here and robbed of memories. Loosing Gino's friendship had not been a pleasent experiance, though it was very blury in Suzaku's mind and he had a feeling there was something he was missing.
"Isn't it obvious," he said with a blank expression, "We've lost our memories, back home we're.... we're not friends anymore," it was hard to say it, "But it seems to be one of the things you've forgotten." He shrugged and kept his features blank, stood stifly and looked past Gino's shoulder.

But even as he asked, the pieces fell into place again. Not answering to his title. The tension. And that line he'd dismissed, two days ago. "What are we fighting? Britannia?" And Lelouch was a prince, and Suzaku his knight.
"No way. You betrayed-" Gone. His expression smoothed out, the accusation trailed away, and he blinked. "... What were we talking about?"

Then Gino seemed to look confused and Suzaku went pale, what did he mean what were they talking about? He had almost remembered, and then he had forgotten all over again. What had happened? Was Geass even this powerful?
"Gino... you almost remembered something and then just forgot," he waved his hand in the air, "Just like that... they must be able to control us at all times, taking our memories away even when we almost remember them..." The thought was terrifying and Suzaku didn't know who in the world could be that powerful.

Friend? That sounded wrong. "You said something about back home, right? Geez, this is ridiculous."
But he'd called the other knight out for a reason. Two reasons, but he couldn't for the life of him remember the first. "Ah, more to the point... Euphemia. Isn't she meant to be dead?"

Suzaku blinked when Gino spoke again, another question but when he did Suzaku took a step back, grief filled him and he blinked lest tears decided to fill his eyes. He saw he was trembling and tried to make himself stop, he wondered faintly if Gino was purposfully trying to hurt him or if he just hadn't known about what had happened. Suzaku had never spoken about it to him so Gino had no way of knowing.
He opened his mouth, took a breath and tried not to choke on his words. "Yes," he said quietly, "She... she died a year ago, I don't know how she is here." But she was here and as guilty as it made him feel; for here was not a good place to be, Suzaku could not help being so happy that he was able to see her again.

Judging by his reaction, at least a few of those rumours were true. A Knight and his Princess, romantically involved? He could remember the derogatory comments in the hangars, but couldn't recall feeling anything other than passing interest in the stock footage of the Lancelot. It did, however, mean that his friend stood to get destroyed all over again if this turned out to be a trick.
"Thought so. Kallen said-" he looked away, recalling fragments of a conversation, and then back with a forced smile that faded too quickly. "Well, never mind. Just... be careful. She's gonna find out sooner or later, and you don't look prepared for that."
no subject
He didn't want to think about it and looked at Gino a haunted expression of grief on his face. "I know," he wasn't prepared, she was less prepared. But they couldn't tell her, as had just been demonstrated by Gino telling someone something they had forgotten just made them forget it again.
"She's not either... there's no way to prepare anyone for that..."
no subject
He'd originally meant it as a joke, but by the time he'd voiced it, Gino suspected that was exactly what he was planning. Luckily, there was another option. One he'd checked himself in the rulebook over dinner. To forestall him agreeing with the first idea, he spoke in a rush.
"She's not going to let you do that, and you know it. There's another way, but you won't like it."
no subject
He sighed, it wasn't going to work Gino was right. She wouldn't let him and she would get suspicious and actively seek out memory charms to find out what he was trying to keep hidden from her. It would not work, but this other way? Suzaku looked suspicious, if Gino thought he wouldn't like it he very likely wouldn't but he needed to know anyways. "And that would be?"
no subject
Or at least in one the sections of the manual he'd read so far; forgetting anything again wasn't high on his list, so the chapter on memory charms had been one of his first. "Get it? Even if she remembers for a second, as long as you can get that thing away from her, it'll be like it never happened."
no subject
Controling what memories she was allowed to have seemed even worse to him than just making sure she got no charms at all, but it would be easier to do and she would only have to cope with the pain of the memory for a second and then she could forget it again...
He still didn't like it, messing with peoples memories even in just controling what charms they had was too much like Geass, too much like whoever had brought them here was doing. Still he saw no other way. "It would work..." he said quietly, his tone showing that he did not like the idea, but was willing to work with it, it being the only viable option he could think of at the moment.
