Weapons: Dave Strider and Hikaru Sulu Oichi vs. Meryl
Location: The Courtyard
Time of day: Jan 11 (day 2 of round -1), Afternoon
Well, it was kind of too late to think about that. Meryl was already in the courtyard with her weapon, and she was already trying to think up some sort of strategy. The system was kind of strange, but she somehow knew what to do. All she had to do now was fight; it wouldn't be easy, but it usually never was.

It's a strange sword, unlike anything she's ever seen before-- but this has become the norm in this place. There's very little that is familiar and easy. This is no different.
Letting her Weapon do as he pleases, Oichi heads to the place they'd agreed to meet. She approaches Meryl in the courtyard, stepping unevenly towards her, broken sword dragged along the ground behind her. ]
Ichi... doesn't know your name. What is it? What are you called?

[She managed to keep her's in one piece, but it was still much lighter then she expected. Reading or not, she was still too used to heavy equipment. This would be interesting, to say the least.]
Meryl.
[She stopped to look at her opponents weapon. Broken already?]
Are you sure you're supposed to be using that?
[And what was the weapon's owner going through if it was snapped in half? That must be why they aren't here.]

[ She looks to the weapon when it's drawn attention to, eyebrows furrowed ]
Ah, Ichi drew it like this... it wouldn't come out, so he broke it for Ichi. It didn't hurt him... much. [ her laugh is airy and small ] Now... let's fight, okay?
[ She sways slowly from side to side, taking a step closer and getting ready to wield the thing. Yes, she can feel it; something deep inside of her hums expectantly. ]

[She took a narrow fighting stance as she held the foil in her front hand while guarding with the other. She wasn't fighting another fencer, which meant that it was probably a good idea to keep a a different fighting pose until she knew how to keep herself guarded against more blunt attacks.]

She rushes forwards again, swinging the sword downwards with a surprising speed and strength-- aiming for her shoulders and neck. ]

[Meryl didn't even have time to counter, and could only try and dodge it. She didn't have that much success, and felt the blade hit her arm at full force.]
AAH!
[She didn't even bother to see if it was bleeding, and retracted while slashing across her body.]

She doesn't move after her ankles are hit, withstanding the blow, and instead goes to strike downward into Meryl's core. She throws all her weight into it and is quite open afterward-- but it's a way to maybe end it quickly. The pain is starting to grind on her as well. ]

[Meryl tried to get up, but was quickly interrupted by the blow to her midsection. She still wasn't even bleeding, but she still fell to the ground. She could take a lot, but a direct hit was too much for her.]

Ugh... I guess you win.

[ Her weapon also disappears and she looks confused at her hands for a brief moment before the corners of her mouth quirk up ]
How lovely... you aren't too hurt, are you?

I'll be fine in a bit.
[Strange, there weren't even any wounds.]

[Guess who's been reading the rulebook instead of paying attention during class?]
