Closed Log

Characters: Yuri Lowell and Lelouch Lamperouge.
Format: prose
This log is: closed
Location: Exaclan Arena, very late at night when all normal people are abed.
Summary: Zero requested allies and Yuri responded.
Warnings: tba
When Yuri had found the note tacked to Flynn's bed, a knot of tension in his stomach eased. It had been so long since he'd posted his own response that he'd begun to think whoever had posted that dramatic declaration was all talk and no brains, or at least not enough to figure out his signature.

The location was curious, though. The Conquest Dorm? Home of the two staff members who were the strictest with their rules and loosest with doling out punishments? Was it an insider or someone capable of slipping past the unsuspecting like him? It wasn't exactly difficult to get past Day or Santana, but it did require some skill and acuity which was why his visits to Flynn always ended up with him picking leaves and twigs out of his hair. (His difficulty with doors was also another contributing factor.)

Still, the message had been passed on and Yuri was more than ready to move. That afternoon, as he'd left Flynn's room, he'd given the comatose knight a wry smile. No doubt Flynn would be upset if he ever found out... but then, what else was new? Some things, unfortunately, just couldn't be solved as neatly as his friend wanted them to.

That night, dressed in an outfit he'd bought the same day as his sword, Yuri entered the Exaclan Arena just as his PDA beeped a chime saying it was 2:30am. It wasn't his need for theatrics that had him wearing the outfit but rather his need to protect those the school would punish if they found out it was him. It was that threat that made him disapproving of the location Zero had chosen, adding another notch of disapproval in his head for the man, but in the end the necessity of this meeting had overwhelmed the danger.

As he strode into the center of the arena, intending to make his arrival obvious and show he had nothing to hide, only when he was in the very center of the stands did he stop, the sheath of his sword bapping lightly against his leg as he did so.

"Okay Zero, where are you?" He murmured softly, glancing out at the stadium expectantly.

Lelouch sat in the control room for the arena. Yuri was right on time. Of course, Lelouch had the obvious advantage of knowing the identity of his current companion. Could they actually be allies? That remained to be seen. He had certainly made himself at home in there, in full costume, sans the helmet. He reached over and flipped a couple switches. A spotlight shone on Yuri. And his PDA began to ring. The call was coming from the account of Sollux Captor, a student that had long ago disappeared.

"Correct," he replied, in the usual Zero tone. He flipped another switch on the console, put his helmet on, and left the control room. "Look around you, at this arena, the school, and the island. What do you see?" Lelouch made his way toward the fighting area of the arena while he spoke.

"And what do you see when the train arrives, and the new arrivals come, wrested from their homes and loved ones?" He continued to make his way silently through the space, finally coming to a stop in front of Yuri, though since he was outside the beam of the spotlight, he couldn't yet be seen. He did not expect to be disappointed by his answer.

The spotlight turned off, and once Yuri's eyes adjusted, he could see Zero standing there in the glow cast by the moon and the stars, glinting off of the points on his helmet and the gold trim on his cape. His arms could not be seen beneath the cape. The call switched off on Yuri's PDA. "I see a stage for puppets to dance on strings to the tune of an unknown piper." He spread his arms wide. "Every week, we gather more marionettes like so many lambs to the slaughter. I mean to snap the strings, and tear the entire apparatus down on top of those that force us to remain their playthings." He lowered his arms again.

"I will not stand idly and allow the crimes of those that pull the strings to stand unpunished. I will not permit the weak to be twisted by the strong."
