Location: By the train tracks
Summary: Kallen and Meryl try and fail to escape.
Warnings: Possibly strong language near the end
Well, this was... too easy. What was keeping everyone from just walking out again? There weren't even any guards around. Meryl arrived a bit early, thinking there'd be a fight, but instead just ended up waiting. Kallen would be here soon enough, so hopefully noone would see her by then.
In the meantime, she couldn't help but start to wonder. Would anyone really believe her story? Would she really be able to rescue everyone else? Hell, she was still technically supposed to be dead.
No, Meryl couldn't think that way. If nobody else would help them, then she would. But she needed to escape first.
By the time Kallen showed up, Meryl was growing anxious about what they were doing. This may have been easy, but too much was riding on it.

Meryl wasn't even aware of the changes. All she knew is that someone found out where she lived without any official documentation and then kidnapped her, all without anyone noticing. Whoever these people were, the rules of the rest of the world may not even apply to them.

She continued down the tracks. "I'm surprised we haven't run into a train. Or rather, it run into us."
no subject
"It must not run that many times a day." They certainly weren't being kidnapped in bulk, at least not after the first train run.

"I'm probably just used to the trains back home. Speaking of," Kallen started, "What's it like in your world?"
no subject
"It's pretty cold, and there aren't a lot of people around. I haven't been there for very long, but... the scenery is beautiful." There was a lot more to it then that, and her sudden change in attitude showed that. She didn't even want to think about that life; it may not even be there for her when she got back. She had to change the subject, and fast.
"What about you?" She suddenly perked up. "What was your home like?"

Kallen caught quick of the tension. Sometimes, she seriously forgot how much of a sensitive subject it could be. "Its recovering. A lot happened. A war really. But despite the tragedies and causalities, it's still the only place I'd want to be."
no subject
"So where do you think this leads, anyway?"
no subject
A long recovery silence.
"Hopefully to a station and off this island."
no subject
Oh.
She thought that reassuring would make this a bit less worrying, but that seemed to backfire. After a long awkward silence, it was pretty obvious that it was time to drop the subject.
"Or just straight off of this damn island."

But after a while, it seemed more and more suspicious. How far out in the middle of nowhere is this, anyway?

"Hold on a second."
Kallen pulled out a pouch that contained a blade inside of it. Moving off the tracks for a moment, she marked a tree. Not that she thought it was completely possible for some sort of weird loop to go on, but just to make sure...

"You don't think we're stuck on this path, do you?" The markings were a bit worrying. If they were going in circles, they would have at least seen an intersection by now, right?

Odd, because a tram shouldn't necessarily have one, but that's what you can hear. Quiet at first, but in a rush it gets louder and louder until it sounds as though it's right in front of you. The tracks are still empty.
The whistle is unbearably loud, and then it goes totally silent.
You're also standing on the station platform.
Weird.

[What was that? She didn't feel a train hit.]
......
[Isn't this where they started? It is! The school's just over there!]
........
[SHIT.]
What... just happened?
no subject
Was that walk just for nothing?
"The hell--"
She looked over in disbelief. This... this just wasn't happening.
"We can't leave."
no subject
Well, not everything, exactly. There was a reason this was so bizarre, and she was going to find it out. If the entire school got dismantled in the process... oh well.

This was not fair. They were captives in an unknown world without even the striking possibility that they can remove themselves of this place.
