[ she didn't remember why she used to love doing it, but it was something about nature that she loved watching. it was exciting, especially watching the birds.

she hid low behind a bush to spy on a flock of ducks that were swimming in the lake, she hid and watched almost like a cat ready to dive after them. but she only admired. why did she like to do this though?

whatever the reason was, she was an expert at spying. ]

[She has company. Firifale may be boisterous and obnoxious most of the time, but he's capable of stealth when he needs to be, and he's been watching the ducks from a nearby bush. He has the strangest urge to attack them. It's silly, of course, and he has no idea why, but it just seems like the thing to do. He looks up when the girl settles in nearby. Aha! He's not the only one!]

[He's making a token effort at being quiet, at least. He gives an enthusiastic wave and a broad smile.]

Good birds, yes?

[ someone else was here?

she turned around to notice the other people, smiling when she saw him ]

They're so cute!

[ her voice was low ]

[He nods enthusiastically, though 'cute' isn't the first word that comes to mind when he sees so many plump, healthy, beautiful specimens in one place. He looks back at them with a devious grin.]

What to do with them?

[Oh look, some girl lying on the ground, half in a bush... OBVIOUSLY, SOMETHING'S WRONG why else would there be a girl in a bush?

Have a butler approaching from behind and tilting his head in polite inquiry. His tie's a mess, but he's otherwise immaculate in presentation.]

Is there something the matter?

[ she's caught by surprise when he approaches her ]

[ oh great, the birds are leaving ]

Watching the ducks...

Oh... [He looks over, seeing them start to paddle away. It was probably because of her reaction, but he can't help feeling it's his fault.] I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare them off like that.

But... should you really be doing it like that?

[ she sounds confused ]

I didn't think it was doing any harm, why not?

Well, I guess it doesn't cause any harm, but... [It's weird] ...you can probably just watch them normally. I don't think the birds here really care so long as you don't make any loud noises or sudden movements.

[ she's so used to spying on them... ]

Oh, it's over there. [He points out towards the campus] You're a student there?

[He offers her a hand, and a charming smile]

I'm from Fortitude as well. It's a lot nicer than Conquest, as far as I can tell.

[He helps her up to her feet]

Weird? Well, I suppose that describes a lot of the situation...

Well, I haven't been over there myself, but it seems like they're much harsher on their students, especially when it comes to Exaclan.

Yeah... I sort of thought I was forgetting a few things, but I had no idea what.

You haven't heard? It's the main system that governs this island. Every week, people are grouped as either weapons or players, and the players vow to the weapons so they can fight other players and score for their respective schools.

Yes, it can be hard to tell sometimes... somethings are obvious, like when it's something you should know, but can never remember no matter how many times people tell you. Other things though...

Eh?! B-but... I can't fight! I don't even have a weapon!

Ah, well, that's part of the Exaclan system... using the controller gloves, Players can summon items from the people who are Weapons and use those in battle. There's not really any helping the lack of fighting ability though... well, except practice.

[ sigh ]

I see.... but it sounds dangerous.

Sort if. It's a simulation, to some extent. The weapons cause pain, but not actual injury, so no one really gets hurt or is at risk of dying.

[Kotaro spotted the girl and watched her for a while, he watched the ducks as well though he stayed well away from the lake.
