Fortitude Black Dorm

[overthroen]

1. Open. CRASH. On the first floor of the Black Dorm, a window breaks and Rose Lalonde falls through it. She wonders vaguely why the place doesn't have an open entrance; she searched the building's whole exterior, after all. She picks herself up and starts feeling along the wall. Somehow she's going to have to find Dave's room.

2. Closed to Daenerys. Having navigated to the second floor, she eventually (with a little help) finds the correct room. Someone in here witnessed Dave's death, and she intends to find out who.

3. Open to prefects. Rose leaves the way she came, more hurriedly now in order to avoid any patrolling prefects. This also makes her more likely to run into someone.

Lucky for Rose, Dave was actually returning to his room with some food.

So the sudden crash of course makes him wonder and investigate what the fuck is up. Was someone attacking the dorm?

No...it's just Rose. Wait, what? Did...Rose just crash through the window? He knows she's blind, but...there is a door. Pretty straight forward. It isn't even locked.

Straightening, Rose dusts herself off and goes reaching for her cane, lost in her dramatic entrance. Nope, not in the vicinity, must have rolled away. She crawls forward and bumps into Dave's leg. Oops.

He raises an eyebrow before walking over to where the cane rolled away and coming back, tapping her shoulder with it.

He might as well since watching her crawl for it was just sad. And he didn't really need to see Rose look like an idiot because she somehow forgot how to see.

Rose straightens, trying to keep composure but unable to hide a slight reddening to her face. "Thank you." She starts to introduce herself, but then realizes that she already knows a particularly quiet individual. "Is that you, Dave?..."

[knightime]

He doesn't say anything about it. Well obviously he can't. But seeing as it would make things incredibly awkward, he just pulls his PDA out to reply back.

The PDA crackles to life. She listens intently while dusting herself off.

"Windows are my primary method of transportation, Dave. I would build a car or skateboard out of their panes if it was feasible; their fragile, transparent wonder is just so alluring."

Not gonna ask what a door is. Though she'd like to know.

He's surprised she didn't mention anything about door. Huh. Oh dear lord, could she be forgetting about them? God, he's not even going to let that thought linger. This place isn't that ridiculous right? Wait, it took her sight. Of course it is.

Look at who was out and about! She's just moved into her new dorm -- she misses the old one already, but at least she can change the side of her spacious room into a huge, wonderful fort now. But she was on her way to visit Dave, and well...

"Rose?" That's weird... "You're not supposed to be here, are you? You're in Conquest?"

Rose is free to notice the spiffy new hat that Jade has received. It's a ~Prefect hat~ yes.

Oh, shit. Wait, though, that's actually a familiar voice. "Jade? I was just visiting, uh..." Best not to announce her reason for breaking and entering. "...Dave. What are you doing?"

[greenspaces]

"I'm getting all my stuff from the dorm, since I'm a prefect now..." Vaguely, she considers the fact that she probably should punish Rose for not only breaking and entering but also for coming to Fortitude in the first place. But she can't really seem to care, because Best Friend Rights.

"Do you know there's a door?"

[overthroen]

Rose grins. "Congratulations. It's about time somebody competent joined the rest of them." She wishes she could be a prefect, too, but Jade's been here longer. She GUESSES it's only fair.

"I'm not sure what you mean." How could a door be helpful for anything?

[greenspaces]

Jade earned this. Yeah.

"You go through doors. You pull on it, and it opens, and then you walk through it so you don't have to break any windows."

[overthroen]

Rose frowns. "That seems like hyper-advanced technology. Openings in walls temporarily covered by other material is an idea worthy of science fiction."

Sudden realization! Oh, this is not Rose's best day for infiltrating a strange dormitory. "And that would be another memory I've lost, wouldn't it?"

[greenspaces]

"Mhm. I think it is." And there are the giggles. Rose is being quite silly today! Jade can't help herself! This is very giggle-worthy.

"That's a really silly memory!"

[overthroen]

She raises an eyebrow. "You have nothing of a similarly trivial caliber?" But she can't help grinning a little in spite of herself anyway. No wonder it's been so hard to enter and exit rooms of all sorts.

[greenspaces]

There's a sputtering sound, and she giggles. "I forgot the colors of the rainbow. I think. I can't remember what color I type in! But it's grass-color."

[overthroen]

"At least you remember what a rainbow is," Rose points out. "Maybe you should memorize a new object-oriented scale. Apple, carrot, banana, grass, sky, blueberries, Derse."

[greenspaces]

"Derse is the color you type in!"

And then there's someone in her dorm who doesn't live here, "May I help you?"

Rose enters cautiously. Dave must have more than one roommate. "I'm looking for Daenerys." Her pronunciation is slightly off, and the world feels funny in her mouth. But she tucks the cane away for the moment and stands up straighter. Interrogators must be sufficiently assured of themselves.

[bloodandfire]

Her head snaps up to that, "This is she, and it is pronounced Daenerys," she corrects her pronunciation, "It is hard to pronounce for those not of my world it seems, but may I help you?"

[overthroen]

"Daenerys. I see. My apologies." She takes another step into the dorm, listening for any other presences in the room. "Are we alone? I'd like to ask you about Dave."

[bloodandfire]

That catches her intention, "Yes, we are alone. Dave is the child who cannot speak, correct? What would you like to know about him?"

[overthroen]

"I understand you were present at his recent death." It's a difficult subject, so as Rose always does when she gets nervous, her word count goes up. "I wish to inquire into his murder's instrument, and its wielder."

[bloodandfire]

She shakes her head a bit, "Unless you plan on attacking the lake I do not think that will work. He drowned, but not of his own accord, he was pushed, I assume, into the lake by Nanami. I assume he was pushed not that it was Nanami, that I am certain of."

[overthroen]

Rose tilts her head in acknowledgment. "An accomplice in the crime would do just as nicely as the actual suffocating body. My thanks."

Shion went to investigate the sound of the crash and blinked as he saw the girl feeling her way along the wall. "Is everything alright?"

[overthroen]

Rose "looks" around - well, twists her head towards the source of the voice, anyway. "I can't speak for the harmony of all living things in this universe or others, but I'm currently fine. Though I'd appreciate some direction towards the room of Dave Strider, if you know him."

Shion smiled though the phrasing made his head hurt a little. It quickly faded though and he paused. "Are you a friend of his?" He was unsure about leading the girl who had just crashed through a window to Dave. Dave attracted enough trouble as it was.

She rests on her cane. "He's my brother. Ectobiologically, anyway, and one universe removed. I'm Rose."

"Ectobiologically?" Shion frowned, he had never heard of that before and usually he knew about things to do with biology because.... He frowned at the headache that was building.

Focused on what he understood. She and Dave were brother and sister? Dave hadn't mentioned having more than one sister, perhaps it was something he had forgotten. "Rose... nice to meet you I am Shion."

[overthroen]

"It's a pleasure, Shion." She holds out a hand for him to shake. "We didn't share a childhood together, but we were cloned from the same mixture of genetic material. Hence, we share much of it. Does that suffer your confidence enough to help me find him? I wish him no ill."

Shion shook her hand utterly confused. Cloned from the same mixture of genetic material? They were clones? They looked nothing alike but... Other worlds were so strange and Shion knew nothing about them. "Of course I will help you find him."

"Thank you." She extends another arm to take his shoulder or hand, for leading purposes.

He took her hand and began to walk to the stair case. "He's in the room above mine," he told her. "Are you new here?"

While Zoey was used to loud noises before now (you didn't get to be friends with Dawn and Ash without dealing with that aspect) she wasn't expecting a window breaking and then a loud crash. She picked herself off the bed to investigate. "Hello?"

Rose jumps. God dammit. The halls sure are crowded today. So much for a stealthy entrance. She continues feeling her way down the hall, hoping that whoever's found her doesn't decide she's suspicious.

Now Zoey knew she wasn't imagining things, but was careful not to spook the person making the noise. "Whoever is out there, I know you're there. Come out."

[overthroen]

Sigh. Maybe she shouldn't have broken the window to come in. "Congratulations. You've managed to confirm the presence of any who may or may not be around. Your logical arguments are incredible."
