Tower assault | Forward-dated

Summary: This thread is dated to IC Tuesday, which is OOC Friday. I've posted it early so as to give people plenty of time to tag and make progress on it before then, when the mods will post with the effect it will have on the game.

ONE LAST NOTE! FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD AND AWESOME TRACK THIS POST! Because there are so many people in this post, I've gotten permission to put an extra rule on it. If the person before you has not tagged in 24 hours (and you've made attempts to contact them) skip them in the order and move on. IF THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU THINK YOU CAN DEAL WITH, LET ME KNOW. I'll grab someone else. Lelouch may need to hijack the thread order, depending on what's going on, because he's in Commander Mode. If he does, continue on after that as the order goes.

Finally, he was certain that this would get him that much closer to discovering the secret of these towers. He had no way of knowing which of the staff members was connected to this tower, but that was only one of a few answers he would get today.

He was the first to arrive there, having elected to not attend his last class of the day, opting instead for some preparatory work. He paced around the outside of the tower, before coming to the door again. Suzaku should be here soon, followed by the others. Some had been easier to convince than others, but the result had been the same: Here they all were.

At least being a Player meant he didn't need permission to leave the campus, once his final class was over Suzaku made his way to the battle arena where he had planned to meet Lelouch and whoever else he had dragged into this.

He stood to the side, at attention when he arrived.

She wasn't quite sure why she was here, but someone had asked her to come. And so she had gotten Anya's permission to leave, skipping out on her afternoon class to first check on the flowers before wandering over. She knows Suzaku, at least; Jade waves a little bit and moves to stand beside him.

"Hi."

Okay, so Dave wasn't feeling incredibly well. He felt like shit, probably looked like ass. But he tagged along anyways. He didn't know why Jade was needed, and he didn't want her going by herself. Had Dave known Suzaku would be there, he might not have felt as worried. Still. He trailed after Jade quietly, hands shoved in his pockets.

He probably should be resting, but hey, he's technically done that since Sunday right? That totally counts. Totallyyyyyy. Comas can suck it okay. He's a Strider and he can handle his shit.

Dave just wanted to make sure Jade stayed safe, especially with things being awfully off as of late. He just gave a thumbs up, standing next to Jade, but far enough that they wouldn't accidentally cause any physical contact.

One of the later ones to arrive, Kevin had come straight to the tower from his tennis practice which (as far as he was concerned) was the last "class" of the day he had. With his racket bag strap digging into his shoulder and a sports drink in his hand, he approached the growing group with apprehension, eyes going over the (mostly) unfamiliar faces and affixing each one to his memory.

Once there, he gave a brief "Yo." in greeting before raising the bottle to his lips and taking a drink while sliding his free hand into his jacket pocket.

"Whoa, I'm the last one?" Gino somehow managed to lope in only a moment or so after Kevin, one hand lifting to pat the tennis player's head as he moved to stand next to him. Two Conquest prefects, right? United front and all that. "Guess it was farther to walk than I thought. Hey," and he flicked a salute to the others. "You've seriously dragged a bunch of kids in here, Lelouch?"

Lelouch simply watched as the others arrived. He was annoyed that Dave felt compelled to tag along, but he supposed having another Player along would not be a bad thing. "They may be children, but they, particularly Dave, are capable in their own right. If i thought otherwise, I would not have asked them." Lelouch was not in the mood to be second-guessed. His voice had all of the accoutrements of command. It was a marked difference from the lazy, bored, physically useless prefect they may have gotten used to.

"If you would all follow me." He led them to a position gathered around the panels. "You will be placing your hand on the panel that matches the dorm you formerly, or currently, in Gino's case, occupied. Dave, Suzaku, and Gino. It would do each of you well to draw a weapon." It was at that point that he handed the sword over to Dave. It was one of the generic ones from Rakettear. He of course failed to mention the real weapon hidden on his person, but Suzaku could expect to know what hid under his vest. Speaking of his Knight, he turned to face him so he could draw. "When everyone is prepared, we will begin."

Suzaku nodded to the others as they arrived, he knew them all and had battled with most of them. He nodded at Lelouch's words about them being competent, he had fought Dave every round the two of them had been players and knew that they could fight. Kevin had been his roommate before he had been made Prefect and was capable of looking after himself as well.

It would be fine, he hoped. He pulled on his Player glove and drew the sword from Lelouch and stepped back from the group a little.

She frowns a little bit about being side-eyed over Dave, but she thinks it's alright. She hasn't done much fighting lately, outside of training with Santana. They probably don't know that she's been doing that, either.

"Dave, you can use mine, too...." She nods in his direction.

Dave raises his eyebrow slightly. Now he's wondering what this is all about, but just nods. He looks over at Jade, offering her a bit of a tired smile. He's never gotten to use Jade's Weapon before, although he knows what it is at this point.

He slips the well-worn glove on, pulling the two Quills out from Jade. He then looks back at Lelouch, waiting for whatever comes next.

Pausing briefly in his drinking to give Gino the evil eye, when he saw Lelouch was finally getting down to business, he gave a muted sigh and set his drink down, capping it before dropping it into his bag. That complete, he turned and waited for Gino to do his thing, wondering not for the first time if he'd regret this.

No offense, but about the only adults he trusted on his island right now was Golbez and- maybe to a lesser (really lesser) extent- Dolorosa.

"Let's get this over with."

"What he said," How obliging Kevin was, evil eye aside. A few seconds later, Gino had the bayonet resting casually against one shoulder, and took his place in front of the white plaque. As the only one of the recruits who'd been through this bizarre little act with Lelouch before, he didn't even flinch when the tower started to hum at his touch.

Once everyone was prepared, Lelouch raised his hand to the Pale panel. "Kevin, Jade," he nodded to the two of them. The hum grew in volume. Yes, this was what was needed. This would give them some answers.

Once prompted, Kevin raised his hand in tandem with the others and set it against the Red panel, wincing slightly when the humming increased to painful levels. Damn that was loud.

"Uh- not that this totally isn't too late or anything, but are we sure this is a good idea?"

What is this humming? Jade doesn't really get it, but she places her hand on the black panel anyway. It's really loud; her ears are hurting.

"Let's find out!" She practically has to yell.

When Jade's hand touched the plaque the humming reached ear splitting levels. All four of them were thrown backwards as a star shot into the air. It burned in the sky and the city seemed to go still.

The blast knocked Lelouch back into Suzaku, the pair of them landing in a heap on the arena floor. Before even extracting himself from his Knight, he looked up at the tower at the star shimmering above it. Yes, that was it. That was the real star in the rhyme. Six towers, six stars. He was ready to repeat this process all over campus. They were going to go home.

As used to falling as he was, you'd think Kevin would have known how to land better after being thrown back. Not the case, rest assured.

Hitting the ground back first and being light enough to bounce slightly, Kevin came to a rest on his front and cursed softly as he raised his head immediately and-

"Oh you've gotta be kidding me." He growled when he saw the star. No offense, a burning star in the sky never meant good things.

Suzaku managed to fall correctly even with Lelouch falling on top of him. He looked into the sky and saw the star. So one of the stars they had been searching for.

He got back to his feet, slipping into a defensive stance holding the sword ready. He didn't know if anything further would happen but it never hurt to be prepared.

Welp. That wasn't what he was expecting. Suddenly blasted backwards.

He gets to his feet pretty quickly.

And then...he kind of just stares at the sky and at whatever the hell they summoned. You have got to be shitting him. Of course they would summon some giant ass monster. Life would be too convenient otherwise.

What.

"What?!"

What.

[Out of the star the wyrm came, it could be seen forming in the center as the star burned. As the star began to fade it floated down to earth.

It landed, thumping it's tail and making the ground shake violently.]

And thus, Kevin was landed on his ass a second time. Resisting the urge to curse like his father would, the American quickly scrambled to his feet and ducked behind Gino.

Cowardly? Maybe. But against a giant dragon thing that looked like it could eat him in a single bite? It was also just plain smart.

"All yours, player." Kevin pointed out dryly as he watched the lizard from behind the blonde.

Lelouch's face was honest for once as the wyrm came out. Even he was caught by surprise by this. It wasn't something he had thought had any probability of happening. Monsters (like this, anyway) didn't exist. In any way, shape, or form. He got back to his feet. "Suzaku, Dave, Gino, try your weapons on that." He also pulled out his gun, and fired one test shot at it. It turns out having the extra Player at their disposal had proven useful.

Suzaku was surprised at the monster as well, but that faded within moments and readiness took over. He glanced at Gino, they were used to fighting together even if it was usually in knightmare frames. He knew Dave could fight as well. Gino had a rifle so he gestured Dave forward. "Left," he told him going to the right himself.

The bullet did about as much damage as you'd expect of a small, high-speed missile against thick organic scales, which is, not a particularly satisfactory amount. Perhaps if it had hit somewhere vulnerable, like an eye, it would have done more.

Gino, for his part, grinned at Kevin's choice of shield and shrugged the bayonet off his shoulder. As an afterthought, he took off his beret and placed it jauntily on top of Kevin's, for safekeeping.

"Right, right. Just don't get yourself killed, or this is gonna end even faster."

Apparently Suzaku had decided he was back-up. Fair enough. He braced the bayonet against his shoulder, and began taking careful, rapid shots at the monster's head.

Dave follows Suzaku's order, raising the two quills up as he rushed forward, taking the left while Suzaku took the right.

Was that a real gun? Well, it looks like real weapons are useless towards these things, not that he was surprised. Everything seemed to revolve around the Exaclan system. He trusted in Jade's Weapons though. He found it odd that it took the form it did, but he liked these more than a rifle.

Jade couldn't really do anything but watch and encourage. She wasn't entirely sure what to do - god, that thing was big - so she took a few steps back.

[The wyrm snapped out at the three that came towards it thumping it's tail again sending shockwaves towards them.]
