Dave wound up in the infirmary after strifing with me.
He's unconscious.
The nurse says he'll wake up in a day or two, but I figured his friends would want to know.

You're pretty good at it. I don't think I would have done as well as Dave. Not without my shadows....

Yeah, at home I could see negative things people felt as these things that looked like shadows around them. I could even sense a bit of the source of the feeling if I ate the shadow.

I could use my own to do various things, like add more force to a punch, or make a shield.

Now that's something.
I'm not surprised you can't do it here. Anything "ordinary" people can't do seems to be taken away, as a rule.
What if you got some practice fighting on your own?

My friend had started teaching me some things, but, well, I've never been very good with fighting. I wouldn't mind learning more, especially if I'm going to be a player eventually.

It's actually a relief I don't have to deal with shadows. It sucks when you have to feel someone else's misery every time you need to eat.

Then how about I give you some pointers? You wouldn't be the first person I've trained.

I wouldn't mind that! But I'll warn you, I'm practically hopeless when it comes to fighting....
