Location: Rakuen Public Library's media viewing room
Summary: Dirk shows off some 21st century cinematic masterpieces.
Warnings: Horrible movies. Swearing from Striders. The usual.

The time has come. Seven o'clock on the dot and Dirk is standing at the front of the viewing room in the city library to one side of the screen which is currently tuned to static, remote control in one of his hands.

There's plenty of room for everyone who shows up. The accommodations are a bit more classroom-like than he'd have liked -- tables and chairs for everyone to sit at -- but scattered about are some snacks and drinks he's scavenged from the Fortitude cafeteria.

Sit down. Watch these films. There are ten of them, and Dirk can go all night.

Sigh. He covers his face with one hand. "It's not really 'dying'. But fine, you don't have to go with that if you don't want to, it was only a thought."

[greenspaces]

"You haven't died. You don't know what it's like." She takes another step back, and then another. Suddenly, the tears are nonexistent, because she's more confused than anything else. "Dirk, my ankles feel cold..."

Looking down, there's no reason why they should be; they look normal, as usual. She takes another step and trips over absolutely nothing. There's a shriek as Jade falls backward. Her dreamself disappears as it hits the ground.

[greenspaces]

"It's okay. Our worlds are probably so close together that it doesn't even matter."

He's about to say something to try and make her feel better, but then-- she just disappears.

"Jade!"

In shock, he's no longer able to stay tethered to sleep. He jolts awake and looks up at Alex, who's shaking his shoulder.

On-screen, Jeff HAS the car and is driving it into a pond.

"Yeah. Closer than yours and mine, anyway. Shit, this is way too complicated."

[greenspaces]

About five to ten minutes later she walks into where they're supposed to be meeting. She's still dressed in her pajamas, Prospit medallion around her neck. The only thing interesting is that she is completely soaked from head to toe.

Well, completely soaked and also a little bit irritated. "I was in the lake!"

What.

He grabs a towel from the pile he's brought in case of unexpected (okay, inevitable) soda spills and tosses it to her.

"How did that happen? Are you okay?"

[greenspaces]

"I think someone threw me into the lake!"

This is the most obvious explanation; someone picked her up while she was asleep on Prospit and carried her to the lake, setting her down on her feet before shoving her into the lake proper.
This makes so much sense to Jade it is positively unreal.

She grabs the towel and starts drying herself off, flopping it over her head.

What.

(Again.)

"We can put this off for a little while if you want to go change. And figure out who did that."

[Alex smiles,] O-oh?

What've they've sh-shown ya?

[afraid_of_my_shadow]

"Only one of the g-greatest silly movies ever! It's a-at least easier ta understand than this. D-doesn' hurt the eyes as m-much either!" Alex really did want to say that the movie was just a horrible piece of crap, but Dirk seemed so sure that it was a brilliant movie that Alex was afraid to argue that point. Instead he'll just talk about Ghostbusters.

[greenspaces]

"I need to go get out of these pajamas...why would someone do this?" She looks truly depressed by this turn of events. "Why would someone want to throw people into the lake?"

[greenspaces]

Jeff, what are you doing... "Dirk, this movie isn't very well written."

[fracturedsoul]

He just glances over at her, one eyebrow raised. "Don't know what you were expecting."

"Let's ask around the prefects' dorm. Someone must have seen something, right?"

[she thinks back] Mostly cats with captions.

"I don't know if anyone was there...maybe we should do it after the movie?"

Keysmash thoughts. If you didn't think it were possible to think in keysmash, it is. Dave has seen it. Bright red text going through his mind.

But he turns to give her a kiss on the cheek back before lacing his fingers between hers.

"Oh." He thinks it's awesome? That's a good thing, right? That he thinks kissing is awesome? Jade's mind does a brief blue screen of death -- he thinks i'm awesome omg --before she snaps back to normal, resting her head on his shoulder to watch the movie. Definitely not letting go of his hand, by the way.

"I think it's awesome too. I like it when you do stuff like that."

Shut up. How else is he supposed to feel about this? It's a lot to take in!

Dirk thinks it's plenty funny, but whatever.

"Eh, I guess I'd probably feel the same if you told me your sis had made rapbots or smuppets a household name in your timeline, so whatever." He finally just takes a seat next to Dave.

He's used to people realizing he can't talk that he's started to forget that it isn't something everyone is used too. Especially if they know a Dave that does talk.

It sounded great, since the only things wrong with these movies, as far as Shion could see, was the eye hurting and the fact he couldn't understand what was going on. "Do you think they have it here?"
