Characters: Sora Himoto and Jade Harley (AU)[ Jade's been sleeping next to the still figure of Sora for a few days -- she's used to it by now, when her best friend suddenly doesn't wake up, still and unmoving for a day, a few days, a week. What she's still not used to is the moving around again that comes afterwards. She was curled up with Sora when she fell asleep (or as much as she could curl up with a still figure), and waking up, she was alone. The bed was still warm -- where did Sora go? -- and Jade rolled over, peering around the room through her hazy vision to try and spot the other girl. ]

Sora...? Are you here?
[ Briefly, she wonders if Sora's gone home -- that thought alone propels her to grope for her glasses on the bedside table, putting them on so she can see better. ]
Sora?

Jade, when did Yuki disappear?

Jade shakes her head. ]
I don't know. I guess it was really soon, I didn't even know.
[ And now she feels bad. ]

It's not fair. I was talking to her just now... Before I fell asleep.

[ She didn't know? Or was it simply that she hadn't checked the date? Jade wasn't quite sure what to do, so her arms are outstretched halfway, like it might help something. ]
I couldn't wake you up.

Yeah. You keep falling asleep and not waking up. I keep thinking you-- [ You've disappeared, but she doesn't want to say that. She doesn't even know what would happen if Sora left. Mostly for other people, but deep down she knows she probably wouldn't do well if her friends disappeared on her. ]
I wish this place didn't steal people away. Especially the important ones.

I'm glad you're still here. I thought, when you weren't asleep, you'd gone home.

Or, starts to, and then realises Jade's head is set against her collarbone and that would be a bad move. So she lifts a hand to rest against her hair... and pauses.
Realisation hits, and she's effectively distracted. ] Your hair!

Do you like it? I got it cut.
