Characters: Apollo and anyone
Format: Any
This log is: Open
Location: Conquest campus or in town
Summary: Apollo's developed a daily routine, but he's still not mentally settled in yet. (Make sure to note the location and time in the subject line or in your post, please!)
Warnings: None yet
In the time since he'd arrived here, Apollo had started to slowly adjust to life in Rakuen. Suddenly being expected to teach a class was one of the hardest parts, and he still didn't have anything like real lessons or even a real plan for them. So far he'd been lecturing on whatever he thought was relevant, taking it a few days at a time until he could get a better handle on it. It was almost, almost enough to make him miss how slow work had been at the Wright Anything Agency, but on the other hand a daily pay check was awfully nice, even if it was in the strange currency here.
So Apollo was spending most of his time either in his classroom or in his dorm, venturing out for walks occasionally to help him get his bearings. That it was so similar to a normal college town made it a little easier, though the incongruous parts of it like the arena helped remind him of exactly why he didn't want to be here. At least he couldn't complain about the free rent.

He nodded at him politely, "How are you settling in?"

Apollo hadn't noticed him at first, but he was happy to see a more familiar face. He'd forgotten how exhausting a new environment, with entirely new people, could be.
Waving back, he walked over to the wall to join him, "I'm fine! Just a little busy with the teaching stuff. ... Say, I don't think I caught your name the last time."

No that wasn't a good thought path. "Suzaku Kururugi, yours is Apollo correct?"

That was a plus side of having the prefects meet the new people first, they could convince them that they were on their side, and ease them into things before they had to meet the likes of Santana.
no subject
... Well, maybe he will. Apollo was automatically a little wary of anyone in a position of power here, but Suzaku didn't seem all that bad. Plus, with what he'd said the other day, it didn't seem like the prefects were doing any better if they didn't know how to get home yet either.
"Right now I'm mostly just wondering if teaching will really do any good. I haven't heard anything at all yet about how people graduate here."

Some of the skills anyways. Suzaku meant no offense to Vane but he did not see how flower pressing would be relevant to his life at all.
You know where, IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT
On his way back from a quick visit to a friend, Yuri had been walking along the paths outside when he'd heard the footsteps. Not wanting to risk a possible confrontation with Day or Santana and risk getting Flynn in trouble, he'd quickly ducked inside the nearest hiding spot which just so happened to be a window.
Into a bedroom.
Familiar as he was with Conquest's dorms, he'd assumed the room was still empty as he wriggled his fingers under the frame, pushed the window up and practically threw himself through the small opening. Rolling to his feet in one smooth motion, he then quickly (but quietly) shut the window and ducked behind a wall, waiting for whoever was walking by to walk away. It was only when they had that he paused to take a breath and look around.
Which was just about when he noticed he was standing right next to someone's bed.
"... uh oh."
ohoho
At first, he's not sure what it is that's drawn him out of sleep, and he might've rolled over and drifted off again if it weren't for that mumble. It was close, too close, and when he blinked his eyes open there was a shadowy figure standing over his bed...!
"AAAAAHHH!" Scrambling up and back against the headboard, Apollo grabbed the closest thing in reach - one of his pillows - and chucked it hard at the person standing there.
so i herd u liek suspicious peeps
"Take it easy." He added, trying to appear calm and hope the lawyer, like a frightened horse, might do the same.
Naesala, on the other hand... already woken by Apollo's screaming, had opened his eyes ready to tell the his 'roommate' off when the pillow smacked him in the face. Hiding a rather irritated groan, the laguz pulled the object off his head and blinked his eyes blearily at the other pair.
"I was sleeping." He grumbled.
yes I like to throw things at them
"Then wake up!" He shouts over at Naesala before grabbing the other pillow, scrambling up to his knees, ready to jump right off the bed if he had to. Apollo doesn't bother going for a light, since he didn't know how to work the ones in here. Instead, he was keeping a careful eye on what he could see of the intruder, not trusting that he wouldn't run off if Apollo even briefly turned his back on him.
"And you - why should I take it easy? You were sneaking around our room! I oughta call the cops on you! How did you even get in here?!"
now that's just rood
"I assure you, beorc, it is rather impossible to not when you start exercising your lungs." He added rather bitingly, not quite forgiving the interruption to his beauty sleep. For all the commotion about an intruder, Yuri was unarmed as far as he could tell and didn't seem to have any intention of harming either of them. Thus, his lack of alarm.
Yuri, on the other hand, had a mixed expression of both amusement and confusion on his face. Cops? What were cops? Probably something similar to guards or knights. Either way it'd be a problem if Apollo called in the security because what passed for the law around Conquest were its two particularly unlikeable Headmistress and her sidekick. Not exactly a pair he wanted to deal with right now.
Or ever, actually.
"The window. Thought that was kind of obvious." He replied with a casual shrug before he could mentally catch himself. He really needed to stop running at the mouth sometimes. "And in my defense? I thought this room was still empty. If I'd known it was occupied, I'd have taken my chances with the bushes."

Giving the other man the fierce glare he usually put on in court, Apollo shuffled towards the foot of the bed to get closer to him, gripping the pillow tightly. "That's a shoddy defense. Our front door here is working fine. So let me rephrase that: why are you going to the trouble of sneaking into the building?!"
Apollo feels that he's entitled to a few answers. After all, if the laws here were anything like back home, he was probably trespassing by being in a room not assigned to him. In his experience, no one ever did anything that suspicious without a good reason. ... And if Apollo didn't hear a good reason, he could still call the police on him.

"I take it you're new?" He then asked, inching one pointed step back at Apollo's movement. A step that put his back to the wall.
Naesala, on the other hand, was more than happy to watch and soak up the information being provided by Yuri.

It was actually kind of comical, that the guy seemed to be so wary of the pillow, but Apollo wasn't about to bring attention to his poor choice of a weapon.
"How new I am is beside the point. You're trying to dodge my questions! None of that is the real reason you came to this campus in the first place - unless it's something to do with this 'friend' of yours?" There's plenty of doubt in Apollo's tone when he says the word, his eyebrows raised. It was pretty late at night for social calls, that was all ... and if an implication helped push him to spill the beans, all the better.

Still, the fact that Apollo now seemed to be veering towards curiosity rather than indignant anger satisfied Yuri and he took up a more casual stance against the wallpaper.
"Yeah, was actually one of the first ones here." He admitted, allowing that comment to be accented with a shrug as if to say it wasn't that a big a deal. Which, considering he was one of the few non-staff still left, sort of was. "And that's 'cause you're asking questions I don't want to answer." He added, tone taking on a slightly more serious note. "Like I said- discards and weapons without permission aren't allowed to leave their own campuses. If you're caught, they hit you and whoever's important to you with a penalty, or worse- they'll punish random people for your mistakes. Combine that with the fact that I'm pretty sure they're monitoring anything to do with the technology..." He shrugged again, a little less insincerely this time and more as a hapless gesture. "Makes it pretty hard to have a private conversation."
The implication that Flynn was his lover however failed to hit. If only because people had been insinuating that since day one in knight training despite their strained relationship. (Also didn't help that everyone mistook him as a girl from behind.) Though to be fair, he had been visiting him, just not for the reasons Apollo was implying. Frustrated at not being able to do anything, he'd popped over to give Flynn a little ribbing and knock back a few bottles. Just to ease up the constant irritation of having his arm metaphorically pinned against his back.
Still, that wasn't something Apollo needed to know. Not when bringing in Flynn's name put him in danger. It was also the reason why he hadn't introduced himself. He just didn't trust either of these two that much yet. "So are you gonna throw another pillow or do you believe me?" Yuri added after a moment, letting the whites of his teeth show as he cocked a grin at the lawyer.

The thing was, what he claimed was completely plausible. In his experience, it was the norm for modern colleges or universities to monitor internet usage... but being in Rakuen automatically made it more sinister. ... And he was remembering what Yuka had told him at the assembly, about how little choice any of them had here. That thought made Apollo feel a little guilty, yet ... he still wished that he had a little more to go on. His bracelet was too bulky to wear to bed, but even if he had it on, he wouldn't have had much luck in the dark, or with its overall lack of responsiveness since he'd arrived here.
"... Okay. Fair enough." Apollo was a little reluctant, but dropped the pillow to the bed anyway. It was interesting to know he'd been one of the first ones here, but right now, he hardly knew what questions to ask. "I won't tell anyone you were here. Just get going. And watch what room you waltz into next time." He made an attempt to sound gruff, but instead his words came out more like an annoyed mumble.

Once he was sufficiently loosened up, he made his way to the... window, and took a quick peak outside it to see if anyone was about. "Quick word of advice?" He added, glancing at Apollo as his fingers began to push the window open. "Do everything you can to keep Day happy, that includes beating Fortitude at Exaclan. If you guys lose..." Here he paused with a grunt as he got the window all the way up. "Then everyone here gets punished. Most of us over there started losing on purpose just to cut you guys some slack but..." Here Yuri shrugged, not knowing how to explain losing half the school roster and having them replaced with entirely new faces. Some of which didn't care about the guys on the other side.
"Anyway, just try and stay on her good side." He added before sliding out and shutting the window behind him like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Naesala, on the other hand, had turned his back on Apollo and by all appearances gone to sleep. Not quite true, but it was really the only way to conceal the item he'd taken while the lawyer's attention was on Yuri. He hadn't really meant to, to be honest. Just one minute he'd been listening to the swordsman talk and the next his eyes had fallen onto the golden object shining away on the table and...
Well, apparently his self-control needed a great deal of work.
I'm really sorry these tags are so late ;;
Day... that was the headmistress! Eyes widening, Apollo leaned towards the window, barely holding himself back from more questions. They'd be rhetorical ones, anyway. "Yeah, thanks," he said as the intruder climbed out of the window, with an agility that even made Apollo a little envious. But he had bigger things to think about now than how disturbingly skilled that guy had been at climbing through windows. Punishments for losing sounded ridiculous, but given the idea that they'd apply random punishments for breaking the rules as well ... it worried him, on a few different levels.
Apollo cast a glance over at Naesala, but seeing that his roommate had already gone back to sleep, he didn't even try to talk to him. He'd provided absolutely zero backup, and this time Apollo couldn't manage to talk himself into a reason to be more charitable about it. Maybe on the laguz's crazy magic world it was common for strangers to hop through your windows, but right here and right now, he didn't appreciate the lack of help.
"Well, goodnight," Apollo muttered anyway, flopping back down onto his bed to attempt to go back to sleep.
