Fortitude: Round 1

When characters wake up the next morning there will be an announcement on all the screens. "Please report to the lobby at 12 noon for important information about this round." Anyone who is not in the lobby by twelve noon will most likely be found by the prefects and taken there by force.

When the characters turn up in Fortitude Lobby they will see the woman they saw battling yesterday, they may recall her weapon to be a shield, fitting for Fortitude. She is standing on a raised podium, looking relaxed, with Nanami by her side. "I hope you slept well," she says with a friendly smile, "Today marks the beginning of the first battle round. If your name is called you have been chosen to be a Player for this round. Those chosen as Players are given all of their rights and can grant rights to the Weapons they vow to. Unvowed Weapons, known as Discards, do not have rights and have to do whatever the prefect," she motions to Nanami, "tells them to do. This may not seem fair to many of you, but these are the rules of Rakuen and they must be obeyed.

I'm sure you've all read the rule book and are familiar with the vowing process, but for those who are confused, I will briefly go over it. Vowing means to promise to protect then, when vowed the Weapon will have a possession mark appear on their hand. As Fortitude students, your mark will be a shield. Only when vowed are Players allowed to give Weapons rights."

Throughout her speech, her forever peaceful smile never left her face, "I believe you will all be good Players to your Weapons, even if it is not required of you. We will be watching what you do and any disregard for the rules will be taken care of.

"Today, if you are unaware, is Sunday. Rounds will always start on Sunday and as there is no school I would suggest vowing today. The day before round start, Saturday, is your free day. There are no Players or Weapons on Saturday and therefore everyone has equal rights. You are allowed to work for extra Raks on Saturday as well. School starts tomorrow 8am sharp, breakfast is from 7 until 8, Players have access to the full menu, Weapons need permission, and Discards do not have that access"

She pauses to take out the piece of paper with the list of Players on it, "The following students have been chosen for the first round:
1. Kotarou
2. Dave
3. Shion
4. Lelouch
5. Spain
6. Vriska

I, as well as Nanami, are here to answer any questions you may have about the school or battle system, so do not hesitate to ask. Good luck in battling and remember that not battling comes with its own price."

With that last ominous note, Dolorosa finishes her speech.

I guess, but this isn't really normal either.

[Uh. She's nicked her finger on a knife before?]

Sí, but. . . ( Oh, gosh, holding onto this sword now like someone else is going to take it and stab her. ) I don't want to hurt you.

( Is that really all. Young nations are so lucky. )

[Well she has been on a victory-streak since birth... But on that note? Don't ask that if she gets canon updated by a few months.]

Really? I don't think I believe you.

It's true. You should learn to trust your allies, Britannia. ( Is that good or bad advice. It's hard to tell with the way things always work out. ) . . . Or at least, trust them the best you can.

[countryofassholes]

[What are allies? Are they a food? They sound tasty.]

Why would I do that?

( Allies are complicated creatures and you need to be careful with them. )

Why not? ( A short pause, ) Do you trust me at all?

[countryofassholes]

[Heeeeh, do I have to walk them? That sounds like a lot of trouble.]

Not really. [No hesitation.]

[... what? Hey, in her mind he is a recently conquered and currently vengeful nation who is missing some memories thanks to some telepathic voodoo from this place. Would you trust him?]

[koyo]

( WELL if we're seeing things from Britannia's POV. . . no. )

. . . I see. ( This could be difficult. Changing the conversation slightly, glancing at the sword once more, ) Do you really think you won't get hurt?

I don't really know, but even if I do I'll just get better.

Then we'll have to trust each other this time, no?

( And she doesn't get a warning as Spain proceeds to return the weapon-- from the way it came. He stabs her in the chest.

But is it really a stabbing if it managed to return the weapon. )

[After an initial flinch, Britannia doesn't react... too unfavorably. It's a weird sensation, certainly, but she wouldn't say it hurt. If she had to describe it, it'd probably be like that lurch you get when an elevator stops, not exactly accurate but that kind of odd sensation nonetheless.

That complete and sword gone, Britannia blinks.] ... I think it worked.

( Honestly, Spain wasn't expecting it to work. He'd only done it fast to get it over with in case something went wrong but. . . AT LEAST IT WORKED. )

It did? I mean-- of course it did! I told you to have faith.

[countryofassholes]

[And she just laughs, holding a hand to her chest.]

You really surprised me.

At least it was a good surprise!

Of course. Don't you think you worry too much?

Ay! I just put a sword through your chest! You shouldn't be okay.

[countryofassholes]

Well yeah, but it wasn't real.

[koyo]

Of course it was real! Ay, don't argue with me. ( Because he saw it! Felt it! It was real! And then it wasn't. . . ) Hmm, listen, I'm going to see if anyone else needs me too now. You, stay out of trouble, understand?

[countryofassholes]

[She laughs at that, a little patronizingly.]

Are you my caretaker now?
