Summary: John is worried about Dave, and thinks that his big sister will probably know how to deal with upset Dave better than he does.
Warnings: ...copious doofiness from the deaf kid? iunno.

Not too long ago, one Sis Strider got a message sent to her PDA.

hi, um, it's john egbert, i'm dave's friend!
i kind of wanted to talk to you about dave, if you have time?
i'm out on the dock doing homework, so i guess just

And lo and behold, Egbert actually is doing homework. Or, well, he's decided that the math class is moving too slowly on the things he understands, and has started doing his own course of study.

Welcome to the life of a self-motivated homeschooled teenager. At least, he's pretty sure he's a teenager. Anyway, Sis, try not to startle him too badly with your ninja skills or his book might end up in the lake.

He has to say that she is pretty damn smooth, and noticing her suddenly in his peripheral vision startles him quite a bit. But he recovers, and the family resemblance is obvious, and, well, her speech is pretty clear. Always nice to find someone who enunciates well enough to make lip reading easy.

John's instinct, since she's not Dave, is to start typing. And then he remembers that Dave signs and Sis must sign too, so he starts to tuck his PDA away so he can sign. But then he decides that texting is probably better for this anyway.

well, some shit's been going down.
and i think i've got most of it under control at this point.
but dave's been...

i don't really know what to do.
i mean, what i WANT to do is just... hang with him.
make sure he's not alone.
just be a bro, whatever.
but he deals with shit different than i do, and i don't want to make it worse by crowding him or whatever.

i just wanted to ask you what i thought i should do.
since you're his sister and all.

She crouches next to the boy. Glancing and reading over the text carefully. She had noticed Dave hadn't contacted her in a few days, and he pretty much blew her off in the music shop. She was on a mission to find out who Vriska Serket was, and where she was placed in terms of schools.

Sis would have loved for you to wave your hands around like a complete fool John. She just doesn't understand all of these hand signs and what they mean. She's completely forgotten what sign language is all together. Not even simple signs such as 'hello' are relevant in her brain any longer.

"He's a loner, just like his Sis." Sis is just sadly the more...elusive one. "I think you should attempt to speak with him. I have already tried, and he had told me that a female beat him up." Her levels of disappoint in that fact were through the roof.

"He may feel his pride is hurt, Mister Egbert." That is her only thought or suggestion on this matter.

He holds up his bandaged wrist a little sheepishly, once she's read that. Yeah, he's a real badass. But he's not done, so he starts typing again very quickly. Man, doing this with one thumb is seriously a pain in the ass...

not for beating dave up, but...
she lied to jade about dave.
and jade's not really
she's a little broken. i don't think she would've believed vriska otherwise, but she did.
and it really hurt her.
so she got mad at dave and said some things that she feels really badly about, and really hurt HIM.
and it's all really fucked up and i know dave's beating himself up about the jade thing even though it wasn't his fault.

i want to help and i'm not really sure how.
and if you don't know that's cool, but i thought you're probably the only person i could ask.

Jegus, but that's an epic. When he's finally done, he sighs, and glances over at Sis so he can catch everything she might say in response. This is so much bigger than a bruised ego, and he really doesn't know what to do.

"I want to help him too, believe me Mister Egbert. It is a pain to see my brother like this and simply...not know what to do about it." Sis Strider was in a bind, she had no idea what to do about all of these children. Help them or not, she simply had no idea of what to do.

She gently takes Egbert's wrist into her hand. The bandage wasn't tight enough. Sis undoes it carefully to re-administer it properly- for support. She doesn't know what to do, and it was really starting to nag at the back of her mind; it was like she wanted to remember something.

"We will...figure it out."
