"Yikes." The comment is made in light of the fact that she's trying to cook for (presumably) everyone attending. It's a big job when you consider how many mouths there might be to feed. Just cooking for his small group when they were traveling together was a pretty big chore. "That's a lot of baking."

Glasses acquired, he returns to his station and starts putting the fruit into the strainer so he can rinse them in the nearby sink. At her question, he shots her a grin and a mischievous wink. "Yeah, I'm pretty good at them. Interested?"
mrdickery: (just keep on smiling.)

"Hey, cooking's all about the heart. If you've put all you've got into it then there should be no complaints, right?" The comment is made lightly as he focuses on setting his fruit to dry before selecting a strawberry to chop up.

"Guess it's a good thing I picked parfaits." Of course, the fact that parfaits are light, hinted at with sweet, a healthy alternative and a female favorite wasn't considered when he was deciding at all.

"Didn't say it made it taste good." Lord knows Yuri's got enough experience with heartfelt food and bad taste. "I just said there shouldn't be any complaints." His correction made, he tosses the a scoop of the complete assortment of fruit into the glasses and starts going for the yogurt, ready to spoon in some of that too.

Actually, thinking about Flynn? Sometimes Yuri would really prefer he'd leave his heart out of it and just follow the recipe. Then again, how many people did you meet in one lifetime whose cooking was that lethal?
mrdickery: (good for a promise.)

A scoop of yogurt in each, thin layer of fruit, light sprinkle of sugar and repeat until he's at the top of each glass later, Yuri finishes off with a sprinkling of granola at the top and smirks as he caps off the yogurt container again. All that done, he quickly ducks down and goes digging through a drawer, finally coming back with two spoons... and a little martini umbrella for Yuki's.

The umbrella gets popped open with purposely dramatic flare and placed with exaggerated care into one of the parfaits before he carries it over, placing it before her and setting a spoon down next to it.

"Well, hopefully this is almost just as good as something made by one of your friends."

"Told you, I'm pretty good at them." The comment is made in jest, something to keep the mood light as he takes a spoon of his own and crunches on granola.

"I'm Yuri, by the way. Yuri Lowell from Fortitude."
mrdickery: (till my throat is numb.)

"Oh yeah? How is it over there?" Yuri asked casually, spooning another bit of yogurt and granola into his mouth as he busied himself with the task of gathering up just the right amount into his utensil. All so that Yuki wouldn't notice the small flash of seriousness in his eyes.

Fortitude, for all that it was quiet and pretty pleasant, made him feel uneasy. Probably because the entire city made him feel that way, but even Fortitude's niceties couldn't banish that feeling entirely. There was too much about this city that was... wrong. Like the island itself was trying to hide things from them.
mrdickery: (always knew that.)

Damn. He'd heard similar things of course and his own experiences of Santana had led him to believe something similar... but her nastiness had rung hollow. A front, someone who would enact despicable behavior given the chance but only unpleasant to be near otherwise. He had been hoping that he wouldn't have to act but stories like this were going to force his hand eventually.

Still, that wasn't something he had to burden Yuki with. So instead he put out a low sigh and shrugged. "Yeah, but that will change soon."
mrdickery: (gonna keep calling for you.)

"Call it a feeling." He evaded, sliding another spoon of the parfait into his mouth and shrugging. "Don't you have it too?"
mrdickery: (filling up my lungs.)

Well hello sudden steel-like quality he is rather appreciative of. For a minute Yuri considers this as he takes another bite of his parfait, before deciding he can be a little more honest with her. If she wants to know, well... she has the right to that much, at least.

"Think about it: whoever's running this place is constantly grabbing people and bringing them here. How long do you think they can keep this up before we outnumber them?"
mrdickery: (mail you a bouquet.)

"Sure, if you think those six are the ones that are the problem. The ones we're looking for are behind them and sooner or later, they'll have to show their faces."

Once a little ruckus got started up, anyway. If there was one thing Yuri could be confident about, it was his ability to find trouble. He just had to find the right moment to do it and only once he had enough allies to do so.

"So how's your baking going?" He asked, pointedly changing the conversation while giving her a knowing look. A topic change in case there were ears listening.
