rakuen | Fortitude: Round 3 Start

The morning after the sleepover, Dolorosa is quick to get all of the Conquest students out the door to save them the wrath of Day and Santana. She gives her students a little more time but still hurries them so she can start the assembly on time. She didn't want her school to be in any disadvantage.

Some may notice that her ever present smile is a bit wider today, as she stands behind the podium, two prefects in tow. That's right, two prefects. Lelouch has reached prefect status and stands besides the ever cool Nanami. Dolorosa is eager to begin her speech.

"Welcome, my students. Last time we were here we suffered a gracious defeat, but I am happy to announce that this is not the case this round. We have obtained victory over Round 2, and I would like to say that I am proud of you all. You all fought wonderfully and no matter if you won or lost your match, Fortitude came out on top."

"If this were Conquest, or I a different troll, I would urge you to keep winning, to keep defeating Conquest, but we are not them and I am not different. Instead I would like to extend a congratulations for this round, and hope you try your hardest next round. Win or lose we can show that we are a cohesive school, here for more than just battle. I am proud of all of you, and just as we were gracious losers, I expect you all to be gracious winners as well."

"I'm sure you have all noticed the extra Raks you have obtained for winning the round, I hope you treat yourseld to something nice. Without further ado I will announce the battles that occurred this round."

Behind her, the battle records appear.

She starts with the Fortitude battles, "I am always proud when there is little fighting within our school, but I do encourage competition, so I would like to congratulate Dahlia for defeating Yuri, and Yuri for defeating Oichi." she applauds a bit.

Next up, the interschool battle, "For those who fought Conquest and won, I would like to congratulate Dave for defeating Marik, England for defeating Suzaku, Dave for defeating Suzaku, Oichi for defeating Suzaku, Dave for defeating Estonia, Marisa for defeating Nephenee, Dave for defeating Gino, and Yuri for defeating Gino." She applauds again.

"My last congratulations go to Dave, Marisa, and Oichi for winning the roung and helping Fortitude achieve victory!" And some more applauding.

The screen behind her changes again, "This round's Players are...

"Your... trainer?" Dahlia gasped and covered her mouth, backing away slightly. "How can you say such things in public? You should be ashamed!"

""..." Reimi stared at Dahlia for a moment, "Whatever are you talking about, miss? That is how things work where I am from. We live with our trainers and they train us."

"Stop it! I shouldn't be hearing such things!" Dahlia covered her ears and cringed back.

What a ridiculous society that must be.

"..." More staring from the young lady, "Why is this wrong? It is normal for this to occur. If we did not live with them we would be alone without trainers."

"Y-yes, but... to talk about such things in public... It's simply indecent!" Dahlia bit her lip. "I don't know about you, but I'm just a child! I shouldn't know about such improper things!"

"I am but a child as well...Alright, I do not know what troubles you. What do you think I mean, Miss Dahlia?"

"You... you are talking about something dirty, aren't you? When you call this Miss Erika person your... trainer."

"...Dirty?" Reimi squinted a bit, clearly not sure what she referred to, "Sometimes training gets us dirty but then we wash the dirt off."

Dahlia tilted her head in confusion. "I didn't mean literally... Ah... By training you... you don't mean...?"

"I do not mean what?" Reimi tilted her head, "I am a Pokemon. We are trained by humans. Whatever did you think I meant?"

And Dahlia's scandalized look turned to one of pure confusion.

"A... Pokemon? You're saying you aren't... human?"

"I turned human when I came here." She held out her hands, "before Saturday, I had never had hands before. Or been able to talk. It is all quite extraordinary."

"I-I see..." That sounded so unbelievable. What a stupid story. It sounded like Reimi had an active imagination. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have made such a rash assumption. It was rude of me."

Sadly it was the truth. Even if Reimi did have an active imagination, this was beyond her, "It is perfectly alright. But whatever did you think I meant?"

"N-nothing! Nothing at all." Dahlia flushed a bright red color. "It's... it's nothing, really. I'm ashamed to have even considered it. Please don't pay it any mind." Because she'd be damned if she was going to stand there and explain the birds and the bees to some... otherkin.

"Alright then. But yes, my kind is captured by humans and either we are as pets and companions, or sometimes we are used to battle others. But it is all friendly. Still, I do not like fighting much, so Erika fights with others in our team more often."

"I see. She sounds like a very kind trainer. Hopefully, I won't have to use you to fight at all, either."

"Hopefully not, but maybe we should check and see what my weapon is, just in case?"

"Ah, all right! That's a good idea."

Dahlia reached into her pocket and pulled out her glove. Hesitating just slightly, she put it onto her right hand and reached forward. "Excuse me..."

And with that she drew out a large fan. Dahlia's eyes went wide with surprise. Ugh, what a terrible weapon.

Oh! How surprising! Reimi jumped a little as the weapon came out, and then stared. "Oh my! My weapon...is a fan. Well, at the very least it is pretty!"

Sorry Dahlia. You picked her up, you're stuck with her for a bit.

"It's beautiful!" Dahlia held it out for Reimi to take if she wanted to. "I'm a bit jealous, really."

"What is your weapon form?" Reimi took the fan, fanning herself with it a bit. "I wonder what it says." She didn't remember her own name in Japanese, or she'd have known the answer.

Dahlia peered at the fan. "I can't read it... Um, I have a dagger, actually."

"A dagger? What's that?" Reimi looked at the fan harder, but the more she did, the more of a headache she got. Why couldn't she read it? Didn't Eri write this all the time...

"It's, um, it's like a knife, or a very very short sword." What a moron. "I'd show you, but I can't draw it myself, unfortunately."
