In the cafeteria [open]
Characters: Shion and you and also Dave[Open] Shion sat at the discard table and ate the tasteless soup silently. He didn't mind being a discard, he wanted as little to do with this system as possible.
Format: any
This log is: The first part is open to all, the second part takes part after all the first parts and is closed to Dave
Location: Fortitude Cafeteria, Monday dinner/tea/supper time
Summary: Shion hangs about being a discard then goes to talk to Dave and vows
Warnings:
He didn't want to fight and so it probably wasn't fair to ask for a Player, when he didn't wish to be a Weapon. The lack of rights only bothered him because no one should be treated less than others. Everyone was equal. But he didn't truly mind the lack of freedom or tasteless food.
Or at least, not enough to complain. He smiled at anyone who walked past, saying hello to those he knew, and most of those he didn't know.
[Closed to Dave] As he was leaving he saw Dave. He smiled and went over, signing hello. He hadn't seen him since the assembly and he was worried.

He waves at the other. Dave was aware that he kind of ran off after the assembly. He ended up sleeping quite a bit around the comforts of his friends.
He's also extremely aware that Shion is a worrywort, so this probably might have freaked the poor guy out.]

im good now

[He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.]
no subject
He changed the subject, noticing that Dave had another ring round his neck with the others.]
Did you buy another upgrade?
no subject
no
i didnt buy this one
it was on my desk when i woke up on sunday
i just added it with the others
no subject
no subject
[He holds it up to Shion. Obviously he doesn't know why this is such a big deal.]
no subject
But that was what it meant and so that meant that Dave had died. He looked up wide eyed and a little angry.] Someone killed you?
no subject
uhh
yeah
that was a thing that might have happened
no subject
no subject
is this a thing
a thing thats actually happening???
because im pretty sure im totally still sleeping
nope
this conversation of strider kicking the bucket is not actually happening
im just gonna wake up and shit will be the usual
[He's pretty sure this isn't going to fly, but at least he tried.]
no subject
I guess you don't have to tell me, but I would like to know. They should not have done that.
no subject
ugh
okay
they shoved me into the lake
the end
[Surely Shion can now accurately guess how exactly he died.]
no subject
no subject
its basically psycho to try and get angry at them
on the account
well
theyre fucking pscho
[Man. It was so much easier not to make people worry in SBURB.]
no subject
Tell me Dave
no subject
jegus
okay
there
lay off
chill
[He's so tired of telling people. Why can't people just be chill that he died and came back? No one seemed to mind when he was dying left and right back in the session.]
no subject
Nanami? [Wasn't she supposed to protect students? Shion frowned again.]
She wont do it again.
no subject
because im never getting near her again
that???
that is the beautiful sound of me absconding whenever shes around
[Because she's seriously nuts. He does not want to deal with her again if he can.]
no subject
no subject
kay
are we done worrying about me now???
no subject
Just be careful.
no subject
[Because that was what he was gonna do. But didn't.]
no subject
no subject
are you still a discard???
[He instinctively reaches out to touch the other to test it, but holds back. That's a dumb thing to do when he can just answer you.]
no subject
no subject
you arent anymore then
i dave strider
take shions hand
in this holy matrimony
to be my weapon for the week
where he will most likely
just do nothing
because seriously
fighting doesnt happen all that much for a game that revolves around fighting
just say yes
[He doesn't have a ring for you, but you get that mark anyways.]
no subject
no subject
because im starving
you have your rights
its not like i have anything to gain by denying them
no subject
no subject
but this place is kind of full of bullshit anyways
[Dave is just gonna head off and get food now.]

He hopped up to crouch on his seat so he could lean forward and get a good whiff of it. No smell either! Hmm. No good. He glanced up at the boy across the table from him-- lots of smiling, probably safe for asking questions.
"Any real food?"
no subject
no subject
"Not yet! No time. Too many new things. Seen the forest yet? There are 13 types of beetles!"
These were important details! But beetles weren't food (probably) so he'd better find a Player, if that's what it took to get a real meal. He peered across the table at Shion's soup. To Firifale, this was a more obvious cue than his hand.
"No Player either?"
no subject
"You can tell such species apart?" He was interested, though he had a headache when he tried to remember why. He shook his head. "I don't like fighting." He said as an explanation.
no subject
He resisted the urge to say that the silver-blue ones were especially delicious because, while he was sure that he had eaten them at some point in the past, he was equally sure that this was not an acceptable diet. He must have been terribly desperate.
"Lots of fighting here," he said, tilting his head and giving Shion what he hoped was a concerned look. "Bad place for you. End up eating lots and lots of..." He didn't want to call it 'food', because it definitely wasn't, so he just gestured wildly at the stuff in his bowl and screwed up his face. "That."
no subject
And then shrugged, "This round yes, but at least it is food. It is better than nothing."
He did think that, after all in the West Town he had seen people starving and as bad as this place was, at least they were given food and shelter.
Which didn't make the fact they had been brought here any better.
no subject
He gave the soup another suspicious glance, clearly unconvinced. When it failed to crawl out of the bowl and run under the table or anything similarly awful, he turned his attention back to Shion.
"Been here many rounds, then?"
no subject
It had been five long weeks since then, "Are you new?"
Ok done failing at HTML SORRY
This really wasn't meant as an insult. How could it be when he looked so delighted?
"Last train, very new. Came from a place with more primitive technology and less rigid social structures-- none at all actually, in my home!-- and valuing trades over education." His voice took on a hesitant, shy quality as he prattled off the descriptions, drawing back on memories of the stringy black-haired one who'd explained this sort of thing to him back home. He had been comparing cultures on their world, of course, but Firifale had picked up the basic ideas well enough to transfer them. It was a shame that he'd spent his time learning about anthropology rather than, say, the alphabet, but such is life when you live with a scholar.
"Very different," he concluded, nodding.
no subject
"In some ways the technology here is much more advanced, the battle system for example. But then in other ways..." That was compared to No. 6 itself of course, compared to the West Town the technology here was much more advanced.
"Very different though..."
