Location: Fortitude Cafeteria, Monday dinner/tea/supper time
Summary: Shion hangs about being a discard then goes to talk to Dave and vows
Warnings:

[Open] Shion sat at the discard table and ate the tasteless soup silently. He didn't mind being a discard, he wanted as little to do with this system as possible.

He didn't want to fight and so it probably wasn't fair to ask for a Player, when he didn't wish to be a Weapon. The lack of rights only bothered him because no one should be treated less than others. Everyone was equal. But he didn't truly mind the lack of freedom or tasteless food.

Or at least, not enough to complain. He smiled at anyone who walked past, saying hello to those he knew, and most of those he didn't know.


[Closed to Dave] As he was leaving he saw Dave. He smiled and went over, signing hello. He hadn't seen him since the assembly and he was worried.

[Unapproachable was the best way to describe it, Shion had been worried, not knowing what had happened to his friend. He nodded.]

[Shion nodded, still worrying but knowing that it embarrassed Dave, so not making a big deal about it.

He changed the subject, noticing that Dave had another ring round his neck with the others.]

Did you buy another upgrade?

[He glanced down at the chain. He didn't really do jewelry, but he kept his upgrades on him in case. Although even that seemed pointless since he rarely used them. He was usually a Player for some reason.]

[Shion frowned and looked at it.] Can I see it?

[He holds it up to Shion. Obviously he doesn't know why this is such a big deal.]

[Shion looked at it and paled... He stared at the symbol, he half wanted to get out his manuel and check but he knew most the upgrade rings off by heart. This one had struck him as strange when he first read about it, because he didn't understand how you would have an upgrade after you died but...

But that was what it meant and so that meant that Dave had died. He looked up wide eyed and a little angry.] Someone killed you?

[Oh fuck. So that's what the ring meant. Okay, it probably had some upgrade to it, but he only got it because he died. Shit. How does he make up a good lie about this? He doesn't.]

[Shion being angry is kind of weird. He didn't think the other was capable of being angry. Maybe annoyed. But he thought the other just defaults to happy or worried or something.]

[Shion tried to calm down, in case Dave thought he was mad at him, which he wasn't obviously. He was angry at whoever had killed him. At the words he looked down. But after a moment he spoke.]

I guess you don't have to tell me, but I would like to know. They should not have done that.

[Hahah, oh gosh. It's impossible to be mad at you. It's like getting mad at a puppy that got kicked. You just can't be mad at that.]

[Shion frowned and anger clouded his features again before it was replaced with worry. He had drowned... He put his hand on Dave's shoulder] Who?

[Shion nodded] Okay then. [He had already finished his own lunch, he would offer to stay but discards weren't allowed at the normal tables and they would just get into trouble.]

[He instinctively reaches out to touch the other to test it, but holds back. That's a dumb thing to do when he can just answer you.]

[Shion nodded, not looking too bothered about it.] Yeah, I am.
