Think about it, being dead here isn't really a thing you can do, but dying does trigger some... events.

Sacrifices are a big thing here, and to offer a dead sacrifice, one that can't come back to life, is a huge occurrence.

Were you here when Dave was drowned?

He ended up being a sacrifice to the lake and the next round a dungeon appeared with a creature to be beaten, like a boss battle in a video game. I told you, sacrifices are important here.
