After shenanigans at Recette's shop, Dirk has some deliveries to make -- memory charms for Dave and Sis, and memory charms plus upgrades and those Prospit dreaming pendants for Jake and Jane.

Aw man, and movie night is tonight also... He's gonna be busy today.

Throughout the day, he can be found around Fortitude and Rakuen, and lurking about outside the borders of Conquest.

Dave was near the dorms, but outside. He was lying in the grass lazily, a book or two just lying haphazardly nearby him, forgotten. He seemed to be staring up at the sky...looking at Prospit.

Jeez that's really weird. Maybe he should buy Derse. Wouldn't that just be super fucked up? Naw. He doesn't really want to chill with horrorterrors again.

Maybe he'll nap instead. It's nice enough to nap in the grass.

Ah, just who Dirk wanted to see. He approached Dave and leaned over, blocking out the sight of Prospit, Dreamboat Pendant dangling on a chain around his neck.

"Heads up, bro." And he pulled a memory charm pouch from the shop out of his pocket and dropped it on him.

Ein, who has no idea where just about anything is, has taken to exploring the city for today.

It would only have been a matter of time for the two to meet had Dirk not been busy taking things places. Of course, they somehow happened to meet anyway.

"Hi."

Dirk was just headed back to Fortitude from Rakette when he came across Ein. A face he hadn't seen before -- he must be one of the newbies from today's train.

He waved in return greeting. "Hey. You new?"

He sat up, looking at the other before looking down at the charm. He didn't actually feel like pulling out his PDA so he signed T-H-A-N-K-S to Dirk. Dirk knew the alphabet well enough that he should have gotten that. Hopefully. If anything, what else would someone say in a situation like this?

He held the charm in his hand for a moment before attaching it to the chain that had his first one.

Give him a moment...

"Yeah, that's right. I'm Ein."

Dirk signed back Y-W really quick and stepped back, shoving his hands into his pockets as he watched to see how Dave would react.

He could only hope it was something that would help Dave figure out some of the stuff he was confused about.

"Dirk. Nice to meet you."

Dirk had been a bit awkward meeting new people when he'd first arrived in the city, though he'd hidden it behind his usual blank mask; by now, the awkwardness had faded and his blank face didn't have to conceal anything. If there were any perks to being abducted into a ridiculous battle city, that was one.

"Which school did you get assigned?"

Oh god....

It suddenly made sense. When Sis said she wouldn't be traveling with them. He couldn't remember for the life of him what she said right after that, but it made sense.

Sis died. Sis died and he had forgotten it. And now he didn't know how to react. Because it was a terrifying thought and feeling. He spent all this time thinking that she was just on the ship. That he'd see her when they arrived.

But it was different now. If Sis disappeared from Rakuen. She'd never come back. If...he left. He'd never see her again. And Dirk was right here. How does he react? What does he say? Why is this so complicated?

Dave: Look exactly what a person would look like if they were a deer in headlights. You do a magnificent fucking job at it.

Jake had just gotten back from the shop himself. It went pretty well he thought. The most important thing he'd come away with was in his pocket and he was on a mission to locate Dirk. He and Jane had specifically planned for this.

It didn't take him too long to hunt him down.

"Strider!"

Dirk tilted his head a bit when Dave froze up like that. He watched for a moment, and when Dave continued to just sit there all blankly, he squatted down to wave a hand in front of his face.

It must have been something huge. Something life-shattering.

"Dave?"

Well, what a coincidence. Dirk smiled when he turned a corner in town and ran into Jake. Just one of the people he'd been looking for.

"Hey, English. I was just about to go track you down. I got something for you."

The pendant now dangling around Dirk's neck was just a hint as to what he had in store.

He dug out his PDA this time. He didn't trust his hands. He knew how he can get when it comes to signing. It was impossible for him to always keep the poker face up, especially when he was in more emotional states like now.

He's proud that his hands aren't quite shaking yet. He's even able to keep a straight face. Even if his eyes were burning. He's not going to cry. No way.

Dirk frowned. No signing? And here he was so eager to learn.

He pulled out his own PDA to read Dave's message. "You with me? You looked like Bambi standing in front of a semi there for a moment." He eyed the charm dangling from Dave's wrist. "What'd you remember?"

He noticed that and --Oh bother. He'd totally forgotten to pick one of those up at the shop. He'd gotten so carried away with his other inquiries that it entirely slipped his mind. Oh well. Looks like he'd be making a second trip.

"Really? What a coincidence because I did, too."

And then he riffled around in his pocket, pulling out something that he kept concealed in his hand.

Dirk had reached into his pocket to pull out the pouch containing Jake's items -- why was everything in this city jewelry? Between the link charm, medallion, memory charms, and upgrade rings it was like the city had been prepared for Dirk Strider and his fairly decent position on his rapping echeladder -- and had it in his hand when Jake replied.

"Did you? Shit, thanks." He wasn't gonna say no, but his smile did get broader. Poker face? Like he needed that right now. "Hope you didn't get yourself one of those Prospit pendants, by the way. If I sell this one back I'll only get half the price I paid."

"Ha ha," Dirk repeated, though there was no humor on his face. For all of Dave's attempts to keep his feelings hidden, with Dirk's powers of perception on the case he was basically an open book. He looked up from the PDA, a fairly skeptical look on his face.

"So you gonna tell me what this fucking dumb thing was?" Maybe it was rude to ask. He didn't know. Or care. "Something that stupid you gotta share with the class, bro."

[Arthur doesn't really know what to do with himself here. The tournament was a nice distraction at first (even though he came in third, what a disgrace), something familiar even, but now, now he had no duties what so ever. What was an idle king away from his kingdom supposed to do with himself? He didn't even really have Merlin to keep him busy and amused and, well, as much as he hated to admit it, out of more trouble. They weren't really speaking just yet, and that just made the link charm weigh heavier on his pocket.]

[So what did this idle king decide to do? Patrol the grounds around Conquest, as if Conquest were his new kingdom. Which is kind of is, even if he doesn't want to admit it (or admit that he technically has no power here whatsoever). Around the grounds is where he runs into Dirk.]

Halt, what is your business here?

[ Dirk stops when he's called out to, and he turns to see... a guy dressed in freaking armor? Ha ha, is this for serious. Oh, it's that guy who'd placed third in the tournament. ]

Came to deliver a present to one of your teachers, that's all.

That sure looked a whole lot bigger than what he'd gotten. Alas, Dirk always finds a way to show him up when he's trying his best to be a good friend. What a jerk. He grinned a bit wider to match.

"Luckily for you, getting one entirely slipped my mind at the shop earlier."

He reached, taking the pouch and then replacing it with what Jake had in his other hand. A memory charm and an upgrade ring.

He's pretty sure Dirk would call him out on the bluff. But he was just going to hop the other didn't. Dirk was the one who bought it for him. It was kind of rude not to tell the other what he remembered.

But he didn't know how to say it without getting upset. If he said it...than it would just be solidifying the fact it happened.

Alas. One day, Jake. One day you will show Dirk up and it will be glorious.

Dirk took the pouch in one hand and upended it, dispensing its contents in his other. This was a look of pure and genuine glee. "You shouldn't have. Thanks a lot, bro."

And here he's fastening the charm to his bracelet to see just what it is he gets to remember this time. Something important? He sure hopes so.

"I'd take that as a figure of speech, but knowing you I wouldn't be surprised if you really are just embarrassed over having kissed someone. Come on, spill it."

And this is Dirk, reaching out to unfasten the memory charm from Dave's bracelet and attach it to his own. If he's quick enough to do it unhindered, that is.

[Sadly this is for serious. Arthur's a knight after all, he needs to do something knightly. Or something. Maybe he's just bored. Actually, it's both. He never has nothing to do, ever.]

[And really he has no reason to stop Dirk but he had read the rules and he knew that Dirk wasn't in Conquest so technically he isn't allowed inside the walls of Conquest. This could be war-starting, you know.]
