Meet and Greet [intro #1]

As you all crowd onto the platform with your bizarre mix of faces, expressions, clothing and wild theories, you are met by two girls. Both are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirt, waistcoat, and a light summer shirt that seems totally inappropriate for the thin layer of snow coating the station platform. Both have a beret with a crest - one's shows a sword, the other's a shield.

At the first lull in the chatter, the taller girl, her uniform red and white, speaks out over the crowd.

"Hey, losers!"

She explains, in short, irritated sentences, that they're prefects, representing the two schools in Rakuen. Santana, Conquest, she says, gesturing to herself with a smile that would be smug if she didn't look so annoyed to be out here. Nanami here is Fortitude, she adds, pointing to the pale girl half-leaning on her other arm. The girl nods.

"We're here to get you sorted and back to campus. If you wanna ask stupid questions, do it on the way. It's freezing out here."

The girl introduced as Nanami interrupts. "When we say your name, please move quickly and quietly to us."

"Yeah, then we can go back to the dorms."

They separate, moving to stand several metres apart, and both pull a list from their waistcoat pocket. Alternating, they start to read out your names.

Ah, welcome. Did you have a good journey? [ the way she asks it makes it sound like she was taught to say that by rote, rather than any particular desire to know. ]

Not really, actually. What's going on here?

Oh, that's a rather wide question. Simply put, you all agreed to enroll in one of the battle schools here. Fortitude, in your case.

[hugling]

...Okay, skipping over the 'agreed' part, what's a battle school? Am I supposed to fight people for a grade, or something?

[effortless]

Not at all. Fighting has no effect on your school grades. [ but that is likely not what he was asking, so. ] It is a school hosting the Exaclan system. You will have a manual in your dormitory.

[hugling]

...Right. I guess I'll just go and read the manual, then. Thanks.

[effortless]

... Ah, unless you kill your teacher. I suppose that would have some effect.

[hugling]

Are these battles to the death? And, uh, I'd like to know what happened to my powers, and how to get them back.

If you feel it would be appropriate, you could kill them. Of course, that usually isn't necessary. Most opponents are rather weak... Ah, and your abilities have been transferred to your weapon.

[hugling]

I don't use weapons, I just hulk up and punch people. How do I get them back?

[effortless]

You don't.

[hugling]

But I need them?

[he is starting to sound a little desperate here.]

Whyever would you need to punch people at a school?

[hugling]

Uh. When I fight them? Because I fight with punching?

Really? The register has you down as a shield.

[hugling]

Maybe you have me mixed up with a friend of mine. I definitely don't have a shield.

[effortless]

Of course you don't. You are a shield.

[hugling]

...I mean, you could stand behind me, I can get pretty big, but that isn't the only thing I do. I'm superstrong, so, you know, I throw things at people. And punch them. Really, punching is my thing. So, um. If I could get my powers back I'd really appreciate it.

[effortless]

Hmph. There really is no point continuing this conversation until you are reasonable. [ yes she is going to totter away now. ]
