Round One start: Conquest School

When characters wake up the next morning there will be an announcement on all the screens. "Please report to the lobby at 12 noon for important information about this round." Anyone who is not in the lobby by twelve noon will most likely be found by the prefects and taken there by force.

When the characters turn up in Conquest Lobby they will see the woman they saw battling yesterday, and perhaps talked to before that, on the small raised podium. she is eating a piece of bread. Santana is next to her.

"I hope you slept well," she says when she finishes her bite. "Today the first battle round of your time in Rakuen begins, please listen carefully because I am not going to repeat myself.

I have here the list of students chosen to be Players for this round. Listen carefully, these are the people who have rights this week. The rest of you have no rights, the rest of you can be granted rights by these people if you agree to be their weapon.

Now I am going to assume that none of you bothered to read the manual so apologies if you actually did. There are rules to be followed and they are on page nine, failure to follow them will result in consequences and I'm sure no one likes consequences." She pauses to eat some more.

"The most important rule is that if you are a Player battling is not optional. You will not like the consequences of ignoring that rule at all," yes you should be very afraid of the smile that crosses her face.

"To own a Weapon you must vow to them. Vowing to own and protect them, when the Weapon has given their consent a mark appears on their hand." Here she held her own hand up to show the sword that marked her own hand.

"Players may give their Weapons permission to access the school facilities, and to eat from the full cafeteria menu among other things. If you haven't got a Player then you are a Discard, make sure you know all the rules and do exactly what Santana tells you to."

She paused to eat more bread, really these lot looked like they wouldn't even understand what she was saying. She paused to see if Santana wanted to add anything there. Santana for her part just scoffed and sarcastically wished everyone good luck.

"Today is Sunday, every round starts on a Sunday, Saturday is your free day, no one is a Weapon or a Player on Saturday so I suggest taking advantage of it. Anyone who wants to take on a Saturday job for extra Raks is allowed to. There is no school on Sunday but I suggest you take the time to vow to Weapons if you are a Player, or find a Player if you are a Weapon. School starts tomorrow 8am sharp, breakfast is from 7 until 8."

She grins again, "So since I am sure you are all desperately excited to find out who is a Player, they are as follows.

2. Homura
3. Golbez
4. Aqua
5. Feferi
6. Aisha

If you have any questions please come and ask them. If not, follow the rules, don't get into trouble and Battle well!"

She grins again.

"I...t is a lot harder to use then w-what we have in the time that I am r-really from." Really, by the standards of his own time it is pretty antique.

And yeah, that is not particularely surprising. And, to continue the train of thought that made him ask originally, it would be something that he should still be able to handle rather well. He was never world class with any weapon, but with the sword definitely above average due to centuries of training.

[duchy]

"How do you use it?"

Lithuania shifted forward a bit in interest; a weapon he didn't know how to use was rare at home, but here he might be seeing a lot of them. He'd have to practice, if he asked if Latvia wanted to be his weapon.

[shakes]

"Y-you get it ready with an explosive p-powder that looks a b-bit like ash and then y-you pull the trigger that hits it and cause a s-small explosion that sends the bullet flying."

That would be the very, very basic explanation. He'll not mention that losing one eye to a bad explosion was a rather common injury on soldiers in that days.

[duchy]

Lithuania is looking at Latvia as if he now has the most interesting weapon ever.

"An explosion? In a weapon? What's a bullet, is it like an arrow?"

[shakes]

"I c-could show you." The good think about his weapon form is that it is fairly easy to show what he is telling the younger nation about fire weapons than it would be with modern guns.

[duchy]

"Oh, I have to do the vow first, right?"

Lithuania was at least paying attention to the whole weapon and player deal. But he hesitates and then looks at Latvia.

"What should I say? I vow to protect you?"

[shakes]

"Y-yes, I think that are th...e words."

He knows that this is different, but it feels a lot like surrender to agree to be someone's weapon. At least it is Lithuania - even though things weren't always sunshine, his almost-brother was always a good lord.

[duchy]

"Okay, so I vow to protect you! Do you agree?"

Lithuania is more serious, suddenly, because vows are supposed to be serious affairs.

[shakes]

"Y-yes."

He nods and then offers his hand for a handshake to seal the deal. It just seems appropriate.

[duchy]

Lithuania shakes Latvia's hand in return; now that the deal's sealed, he can draw Latvia's weapon, right?

"Can I see it now?"

[shakes]

[Latvia just nods and holds his hands out to his sides as if to make it easier.]

[duchy]

Lithuania reaches into Latvia's chest--which is odd enough to cause him to hesitate a moment, with his hand so impaled--but eventually he grabs and pulls the gun out. And it's a lot bigger than he thought it would be, bigger than he is.

"Ah...?"

[shakes]

Y...you have to get it into a h-horiozontal position, w-with this part here.

[He touches two fingers to Lithuania's shoulder.]

It is so long t-to make the aim b-better.

[duchy]

[Lithuania shifts the gun into the position Latvia described as best he can. It's really awkward, and his hands don't reach all the way, so he's gripping it tighter than he really should just to keep hold of it. His finger also isn't anywhere near the trigger, mostly because he's not entirely sure what that will do.]

Like this...?

[shakes]

Y-yes. Your hand goes here, and when you want to fire, you pull this here. But before you c-can do that, you normally need to load it... ...m-maybe not here.

[He is really unsure about that.]

[duchy]

We could try it!

[...Pause.]

Um, maybe not inside...

[shakes]

We could just h-head outside.

[duchy]

Okay!

[Shifting the musket around a bit until he settles on a sort of convenient method of carrying it. Kind of. But heading outside!]

[shakes]

Latvia just follows. This is so weird, seeing a part of himself, or something like that, be carried away...

"D-do you mind it h...ere?"

[duchy]

"In Rakuen?"

Lithuania pads outside and then a short distance from the building.

"I'd rather be at home, but I think you need to win first, or something like that."

[shakes]

"I-I doubt that they will send us back just because we w...in a fight."

Following following.

[duchy]

"Not just one fight, a lot of them," Lithuania said. "Games aren't games if you can't win them."

Once he's satisfied they're far enough away from everything, he lifts the gun up again and, after a few confused moments trying to remember what Latvia told him, prepares to actually fire the thing.
