001 ✩ Bar Fighting Class - Fortitude
Characters: Yuri and the darling students of Fortitude.[When you walk into the classroom, you'll find that a majority of the desks and chairs have been cleared away to make a large, empty space in the middle of the room. The few furnishings that are present within the setting have been set to the side and look more like the tables and chairs you'd find at a restaurant than a classroom, possibly to help set the atmosphere.
Format: However you want it.
This log is: open
Location: Fortitude Class.
Summary: Yuri's first day on the job is going... well, let's just say he wasn't made to teach.
Warnings: Shenanigans.
The windows, rather helpfully, are large enough to accommodate a body flying through them and have been opened wide for just such an event. If anyone asks? The helper fairies did it, because Yuri sure as heck didn't. He doesn't even know what he's doing here in a teaching position.
At the moment your teacher is looking at the whiteboard pen he's got in his hand with a small amount of curiosity. "Advanced technology" and all that.]
Uh, I guess we'll start off with questions?

Or the better question is, how did this class get approved to exist? Not that he was complaining. Why should he complain about a good thing like fighting? Strifed with his Bro all the time. This surely wouldn't be that much different. If anything, it would be easier. no flash step or swords involved right?]

At the sight of Dave standing at the door, the swordsman just beckons him.]
You got a thing for the doorway or something?
If Dave's font bothers you just tell me!
Dave slips out his PDA though. Right. Can't talk and ask questions without this.]
im beginning to think this entire curriculum is full of shit
if i havent already wholeheartedly believe this already
It's fine by me! :)
Just wanted to make sure! :D
of course not
i obviously just hate talking so much
that i resort to the wonders of technology to communicate to me
now that i have thoroughly made sure i sound like a butthurt prick
i cant talk
never could
im mute
shit like this actually does exist
surprise
o/

im not that big of a prick
i just cant make words
its a sad sad thing when you wanna say fuck you at someone
and you cant
[It isn't like Dave was expecting him to be offended.]
so this class seriously is what it sounds like???

At least bar fighting was a little closer to what he knew, which was namely running away before anyone could grab you. Nezumi had taught him that much.
He didn't ask any questions though, just stood trying not to look as worried as he was.

"Okay, guess we can go with names. Mine's Yuri, Yuri Lowell. I'll be your instructor and... I guess that's about it. What about you?" He then asked, glancing at Shion.

Not for the first time he wondered if there was a way to get out of this job...
no subject
"Well I have never fought before... I mean Nezumi taught me how to run away if I got attacked... I am getting better..."

"But I don't want to be a burden, I don't want to be the one who is protected all the time, I would like to be able to be the one who protects others..."

Depends on the weapon, though most people usually don't pull those in a bar fight. [Well he says "most" but he knows that doesn't always go to plan, so hell, he'll tell her anyway. Better to be prepared than not. And it doesn't hurt that he just so happens to utilize a fighting style on this kind of flexibility...] If you wanna use both a blade and your fist while fighting, you gotta remember where your weapon is at all times. Otherwise you might give yourself a nasty haircut.
[And he's shifting his body to show her how he usually stands during battle, right arm slightly bent and at the ready, thumb over his fingers as he makes a fist while the other stays loose at his side.] You got any experience with physical combat?

Have you ever thrown a punch before?

Punching's about movement, building up momentum from the bottom up. [He shifts his waist as he does a slow version of a punch to show her.] Try to recreate what you did before.

[He steps back to watch her movements, noticing it's slowly getting smoother. It's not perfect yet but only practice and experience will give that. Hey, at least she's on the right path.] I can set it up if you want.
no subject
[Yes, Kotarou had priorities other than just standing there with his hands stuffed in his pockets looking woefully out of place.]

Have you ever punched someone?

Set your feet apart, like this- [he shifts into a fairly basic stance for Kotarou to copy.] -and bring your arms up. The key to punching hard is momentum, throwing your weight into the hit.

Also, he's looking at you. And smiling.] You expecting a monster to jump out and attack you or something?
no subject
[Probably.]

[She slides into a seat away from the window and folds her arms, not wanting to learn anything that has to do with bars.]

[Huff.]
There's not many lessons on right now. I was bored. But I'll never be in a bar.
