Round 2

It could be a repeat of last week, Dolorosa stand on the podium looking out over the students of Fortitude, "Welcome students, I hope you have had a good week. I enjoyed watching you battle, even if we have lost the first round. Don't look down, there are many rounds to come."

If you were here last round you may notice that Nanami, Fortitude's prefect, is missing, "Before I go on and announce the winners of last round and the new Players for this round, I would like to inform you that breaking the rules is not allowed and will not be tolerated. Nanami has been punished for behavior unbecoming of a prefect, if I will punish her I will punish you as well.

"It is worth knowing that the rules are on page nine of the player handbook which you all have been given. Any one who cannot read may request a copy be sent to their PDA, an advanced PDA will read the rules to you. Please do not break the rules and give me an excuse to punish you" The peaceful smile on her face may be a bit disconcerting.

"Since we have covered that, we can now move on. While we did not win the round I would still like to congratulate you on a wonderful round. Conquest not only won more battles than us but one of their players hit the win condition. If you turn your attention to the screen behind me it will show the battles found by Fortitude."

On the screen behind her the Battle records for Fortitude and the Inter-school battles that they had fought were shown. She read the Fortitude battle records first.

She smiles kindly at the crowd, "I'm proud of you, there were very few Fortitude only battles, only one in fact, Dave vs Kotaru, congratulations Dave for winning.

"Also in fighting Conquest you all fought valiantly and I am proud of all of you. Extra notice goes to Dave for beating Feferi, Spain for defeated Golbez, Vriska for defeating Feferi, and Lelouch for defeating Homura," she claps politely and expects the others to clap as well.

"While no one in Fortitude won this round I would like to extend our congratulations to Conquest for winning and particularly Lithuania for winning the round. We should be gracious losers and fight harder next round. There is nothing to be ashamed of."

The battle records disappear. "Next I welcome our new students who joined us yesterday, you have been placed into a very kind school, so please enjoy your stay. Now I have here the list of those chosen to be Players this round, for those who have just joined us this means these students and faculty are the only persons with rights this week. The rest of you have no rights, you may be granted rights by being owned by a Player." Her smile doesn't waver, "I'm sure all of you will grant your Weapon's rights.

"To own a weapon you must vow to them, you know the vow has worked when they receive a shield mark on their hand," she held her own hand up to show to new ones what it looked like. "Players may give their Weapons permission to access the school facilities, and to eat from the full cafeteria menu among other things. If you haven't got a Player then you are a Discard, make sure you know all the rules and do exactly what Nanami tells you to, as after today she will not be punished. There is no school today but I suggest you use the time to vow to Weapons if you are a Player or find a Player if you are a Weapon. School is Monday to Friday starting 8am, I look forward to seeing you in my classroom."

[Dave rudely shoves John and starts running now. Tag, you're fucking it dude.]

[ John lets out an accidental sort of YAWP-ing sound, catches his balance, and starts running after him, grinning.

This is even better than he'd hoped for, meeting Dave in person.

He's not very in shape, and he's not the fastest, but he does his best to catch up to Dave. Not happening, but on the bright side, John doesn't lose him, so that's... something?

By the time they get back to the school, John's gasping for breath and half-heartedly signing "come back" as he stops and leans against a nearby wall to catch his breath. ]

[That was a beautiful noise. Dave isn't even sure what type of sound that is...but it was hilarious anyways.

Dave jogs back to John once the other signs at him to return. Dave has a pretty cocky grin on his face and he's looking pretty smug.

Obviously he thinks he's one-up John for now. But hey, he isn't all that cold anymore now that they've been running.]

[ Out of breath he might be, but John's not going to let Dave win as easily as all that. He stays doubled over, breathing deeply, and once Dave's in reach...

He pushes off from the wall and towards the dorms in a dead sprint.

It's not gonna win him any awards, but it got him a head start on the last stretch to the dorms! ]

[Oh no you didn't. Dave is bolting after John and-

Dave just totally tackled you dude. Bitch, you're going down.]

[ And now they are on the ground, and John is gasping and laughing almost-silently and trying to get out from under him to keep running.

But honestly, he's out of breath and probably can't beat Dave anyway, and after a few seconds he just flops back, still laughing. ]

<<'I surrender! You win!'>>

[Dave is out of breath too. But Dave was smiling. And was he...laughing? it was hard to tell, since he didn't make any sort of noise when he laughed. It was just loud exhales and inhales. Like the type of laugh someone had that hurt their ribs because they've been laughing too hard or too long.

He rolls off the other so he's just lying on the ground next to him.]

[ John glances over and sees Dave laughing and starts laughing even harder. They're just laying there on the cold ground, laughing and gasping for air and...

Well, being 13-year-old boys. Dorky, dorky 13-year-old boys. ]

[Dave is the first to finally calm down. Or at least stop laughing so much. But the smile actually is still there and he can't help it because he's never gotten to do this and fuck everyone, he can be a dorky fucking kid if he wanted to.

He gently shoves the other, which does absolutely nothing. They're both lying on the floor, and his back is cold, but he doesn't care at the moment.]

[ John shoves back lightly, and keeps laying there for another moment, catching his breath. He doesn't get to do this, running around and goofing off with other kids his age. Sure, when they go to those monthly picnic/potlucks in the city he runs around with the kids, but between the ages of 8 and 16, the only other kid is an 11-year-old girl who thinks he's dumb and just wants to read her books

He likes this, just playing. Especially since it's Dave.

Eventually, though, he's reminded that it's kind of cold out by the fact that his butt's getting kind of numb. ]

<<'We should probably go inside. It's kind of cold.'>>

[Dave gets to his feet fluidly. He doesn't need to get up by using his knees and hands. He just pushes off from his hands and back to get back to his feet. Quick ways to get back up.

He holds his hand out to John though. Pretty sure you don't have the amazing getting up skills he has.]

<<'No shit. Unlike you, my tolerance to cold is for shit. It's like fucking Christmas or something.'>>

[ John grabs Dave's hand and lets himself get pulled off the ground, brushing off the seat of his pants a bit. ]

<<'You're a big baby.'>>

<<'No. I'm a fucking Davesicle. My ass is cold and it's fucking freezing.'>>

[And he shoves his hands in his pockets and starts heading to the dorms.]

[ John follows chipperly, cheeks flushed from the run in the cold. He pulls his PDA out and fiddles with it until he finds a text application and how to change the text color and by the time they're stepping inside he's got something on the screen and holds it in front of Dave's face. ]

i'm going to go read those manuals, i think.
so i'm not too much of a clueless idiot if anything happens.

Now that he has Dave's attention, though, he just signs. He doesn't mind getting text responses, but he likes to sign. It's his native language, after all. ]

[ Yeah, he says that. He also uses the phrase "I hear you" from time to time. ]

[Signing just makes him nervous. Even with his best bro. Things can only go so far with him holding the same nonchalant expression. And he keeps slipping into other facial expressions.]
