hi, everyone!
my name's john egbert, i'm new which is why most of you don't know me, heh.
i know it's probably silly because dave would've found someone, but is there anyone here who knows american sign language?
it's just that i'm deaf, so it's the easiest way for me to communicate, and so far dave's the only person who knows how to do it.
if not, that's cool, and thanks for your time.

I don't mind! You're probably not any worse than most of the teachers here anyway. Plus, knowing a secret language could totally come in handy one of these days~]

it totally could!
plus when you're talking with your hands and the people around you don't know asl, they get kind of weirded out sometimes and it's pretty funny to watch.

Sounds like fun! Goodness knows we could use some of that around here, what with all the silly rules. SO MANY RULES, I hate it! Classes aren't too bad though.

classes are weird. i'm used to doing school at home with my dad.

Really? My parents probably would have been okay with that, but Aisha didn't really want to.

well, i went to a school for deaf kids for a couple years.
it was ok, i guess.
but i missed my dad, since it was boarding school.
and i didn't really make any friends.
so i asked dad if i could be homeschooled and he said yes!

Well, my school was sort of a boarding school too. Aisha went to military school! I got to learn all sorts of things, but I had to go so I could to go into space! And I did! It's the best thing ever too, I wish I could go back. They don't have any ships here though.

I wish I could take you! It's pretty much everything you'd imagine it would be . . . but yeah, being here is like being docked indefinitely. Is your world like this? I mean, regular old Terran stuff for the most part?

we just called it 'earth'.

Oh, you're from Earth! It exists back home too, but not many people live there anymore. But yeah, you guys are everywhere, all across space.

Hmmm . . . well, you could go someday, who knows? Don't give up on it just cause you're just on Earth right now! I wonder if this place sells telescopes . . .

i mean, weirder things have happened to me in the past few days.

I think a lot of us have that in common! This isn't as exciting as what I was doing before though~ That's it, I'm totally finding one! Or making one myself, but that might be a little tricky . . .

I will! I'll make sure it's a good one too! Maybe the constellations might give us a clue where we actually are. Probably not, but it's worth a try~
