hi, everyone!
my name's john egbert, i'm new which is why most of you don't know me, heh.
i know it's probably silly because dave would've found someone, but is there anyone here who knows american sign language?
it's just that i'm deaf, so it's the easiest way for me to communicate, and so far dave's the only person who knows how to do it.
if not, that's cool, and thanks for your time.

[ The idea of dessert makes John bounce a little, and then opens the door and waves for Dave to follow. Yup, he's totally fine, Dave, see? ]

[He follows John. He still suspects that the other is going to need some future bro hugs, but those could wait.

If the other was going to try and be happy...]

<<'Anything you want, they probably got it.'>> [Messes up your already messy hair.]

[ John sticks his tongue out and tries to smooth his hair down. ...it doesn't really do anything ]

<<'What about... snickerdoodles?'>>

[ Yes, he is going to ask if they have very specific things as they walk. Shhhhh... ]

<<'How about you stop asking and wait till we get there? I'm pretty sure they can tell you what they don't have.'>>

[Seriously. Dave only knows so much. He's only been here a week.]

<<'Sorry.'>>

[Sheepish John is sheepish. He's just a little over-enthusiastic, is all...]

[He grabs John's hand and continues walking. Maybe he speeds up a bit, but he's holding your hand a little tightly and his ears are a little red, but it's obviously that Dave doesn't mind John's enthusiasm.]

[Not only is grabbing John's hand a nice way to have some physical contact, but it effectively shuts him up so he can't ask any more stupid questions! Yaaaaay!

Having only one free hand, John doesn't bother trying to sign, and instead just worries about keeping pace with Dave, all the way to the cafeteria. Once they're in, John pulls his hand back (a bit reluctantly, it has to be admitted) so he can actually talk again.]

<<'Are we allowed to bring food back to the rooms? We could have a pillow fort picnic.'>>

[Dave kind of misses the warmth of John's hand already, but doesn't say or show any sign of it. Instead, he replies back to the other.]

<<'Yeah. Well, they don't care if we bring the food out and shit so I assume that it doesn't matter. And if it does, well I don't give too many fucks. It's not like we're breaking any rules as far as I'm concerned.'>>

[ John does a little victorious fistpump that, if he were more prone to vocalization, would probably be accompanied by a whoop. Operation Dorm Room Picnic is a go!

John decides to forgo any semblance of healthy eating and just grabs a bunch of desserts. He stops and stares at a tray of chocolate chip cookies for a moment - he can't remember if he likes them or not. Huh. Well, he'll just skip them today.

Then he'll just... wait for Dave and follow him back, because it's hard to sign when your hands are full of sugar. ]

[Dave grabs a plate and puts a much less amount then whatever John has grabbed. He's been eating this stuff for awhile. He's not as terribly excited as John, and he usually doesn't express excitement like the other does.

He stops to stare at the beverages though, glossing over the apple juice like it wasn't there and grabbing milk instead.

He follows after John once he's gotten what he wanted.]

[ John's got a couple milk cartons of his own stuffed in his pockets. He's probably going to end up crashing in a couple hours on Dave's bed, after the sugar rush has gone the way of the Hindenburg.

Until then, however... SUGAR!

Back to Dave's room, a little impatiently, and John plops himself on Dave's bed again, carefully resting the plate in his lap and tucking in to a yummy brownie with a faint, pleased hum ]

[Dave takes a seat next to John, but he doesn't quite start eating yet. Instead, he starts altering his food in different ways. His brownies get flattened into pancakes, any cookies have their chocolate chips removed, and anything else. Whatever he does, the food he has no longer looks how they originally came.

He starts eating the chocolate chips, one by one.]

[ John pauses for a moment in his inhalation of his food to watch Dave go through his little food-altering ritual. He'd never say so, but it's kind of cute, and there's a little smile quirking the corners of his lips as he starts to eat again.

There's something to be said about the inability to have dinner conversation without stopping eating all-together. It means that eating goes by really quickly.

Especially when you're a garbage disposal like John. ]

[After Dave has eaten the chocolate chips, he starts mashing all the cookie dough together into one giant cookie...pancake thing. It's hard to explain what it is, but Dave starts eating it once all his cookies were pressed together.

He's bouncing a bit, probably to a beat in his head. But it's rhythmic and he sways slightly to whatever he's got in his head.]

[ Given the sick beats John knows Dave lays down, and 13 years of observing other people, he can guess the bouncing is probably music-related. After a moment, anyway. He does wonder if there's actual music playing, though. There could be, maybe over a speaker system. He'd certainly be none the wiser.

Despite having more food than Dave to begin with he manages to mostly clear his plate and get through both milk cartons long before his friend. So he's able to just sit and watch Dave eat. Which is surprisingly interesting, actually, what with Dave's weird eating habits.

...Yes, Dave, John is just sitting here staring at you while you eat, what of it? ]

[To Dave, there's always some music playing. In his mind. Even the thumping sounds of a bass or something to keep his mind on something. He disliked silence anyways, so he had to improvise somehow when it did happen.

He tore a piece of his cookie out and held it out to John. Seeing as the other seemed to be very intent on staring him, he assumes the other was either just watching him or wanted some more sweets.]

[ John shakes his head and grins a little ]

<<'You do funny things to your food, you know. It's kind of interesting to watch.'>>

[knightime]

[He glances at his food for a moment, shifting a bit. Now he's kind of embarrassed.

He'll just go back to eating quietly.]

[wakingsavior]

[ Aaaaand that's about when John realises what he said was kind of weird. He blushes and ducks his head a little. ]

...<<'Please forget I said that.'>>

[knightime]

[He chugs down his carton of milk before replying back to the other.]

<<'Nothing to forget. I don't know what you're talking about.'>>
