On the platform: New characters and old ones that want to come and meet them!

As you all crowd onto the platform, all few of you, you are met by three girls and five boys, two of which are bizarre grey-skinned aliens. All eight are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the heavy clouds and cold drizzle. They're all sodden. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - four depicting a shield, the other four a sword.

At the first lull in the chatter, one pale shield-crested girl speaks up, cutting through your conversations coldly.

"Attention please."

She explains that the eight of them are prefects, representing the two schools in Rakuen. Nanami, she points to herself, Yuri, Lelouch and Gamzee of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Feferi and Gino of Conquest.

The girl called Santana interrupts, "Look assholes, I'm tired of doing this every week, just come to me when your name is called." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other, and the two that spoke read off names.

[Firifale hangs back a bit and watches her warily. It's equal parts concern and self-preservation, his human bits fighting with the animal bits. He couldn't hope to understand that though, so all he gets is a big mass of confusion.]

[He shakes his head emphatically, then stops and nods just as emphatically.]

Yes, Firifale, but-- [Annnd more head shaking. He's going to give himself whiplash in a minute.] Blood. Bad news.

[ she ignores that second half of his answer, and ticks his name off with a neat movement. ] If you would stand with the boys in green... I must finish the register. They can answer any questions you might have.

They can?

[You've doomed them, Nanami. He completely forgets about the blood as a smile dawns across his face.]

Yes! Thank you!

[And there he goes, trotting off to join them and shouting questions.]

Hello! Why do hand-fingers move more easily than the feet-fingers? How does the train go? What's a Rakuen?

Rakuen is a special school. Here you will attend classes, live in the dorms, and battle your classmates.

[Things that don't come up in 2 weeks of humanity...]

[He rocks up onto the balls of his feet as he explains.]

That's the groups of the swimming things, right? The silver ones that go swish, swish through the-- the...

[What's that word? He had it before. Suddenly, gone! It was a good word too. Well, he can make do.] The sea. [He glances around.] Don't see a sea?

This is an island, so there's water beyond the edge. There's a map in your handbook that'll show you where it and all of the other important places are.

[Right! Well. He is now satisfied that Rakuen is a school of fish, somehow. Thank you Lelouch. He's not entirely sure what a handbook is, but it has 'hand' in it and that reminds him--]

And the hand-fingers and the feet-fingers?

[He wiggles his fingers and toes to demonstrate.]

[Watches him wiggle them.] They look okay to me, but if you think there's something wrong with them, you can stop by the infirmary in your school.

[He stomps a foot in frustration.] Why do these-- [Wiggly fingers.] move easier than these? [Wiggly toes.

...Yes, Lelouch, he really does expect an answer. Sorry.]

[ SIGH this is why she would have preferred to stay at headquarters. The bad first impressions. ]

[While there is concern in her voice, something about it might seem...off, if Nanami is listening closely.]

[ Zero social skill mean she notices a slight variation, but ignores it. Probably because her own voice totally lacks any kind of emotion other than cold amusement. It's not even trying to be 'on'. ]

Ooh me! I'm over here! [And she's coming toward her, her rump halfway in the air from the frenetic flapping of her wings. She looks back at them, consternated that they're not doing what she wants them to. By the time she looks back at Nanami, she's barreled into her.]

Oh my gosh are you okay? [Sticks her nose in to try to nudge her up again. SHE'S HELPING.]

[ she staggers and falls, having been distracted by yet another fit of coughing. This place is weakening her, but horses are strong at the best of times. Even... speaking ones? She lifts her head at the nudging and watches Bubblecup 'help'. Her answer is forcefully light in tone, slipping back towards her normal coldness as she lifts a sleeve to her mouth again. ]

Please watch where you're going in the future...

I'll try! [Not much sincerity there, and she's grinning.] Did my horn hurt you? [She has no horn.]

[effortless]

[ sigh. She makes her way upright, and brushes rainwater from her skirt. Her socks are irreparably ruined, though.

On the other hand, a talking horse with wings. How truly bizarre. And her head tilts. ]

Your horn..?

Yeah, my horn! [She sticks her head out forward to show her.]

My. [ she doesn't bother to point out that the horse doesn't have a horn. ] Do not worry, it didn't hurt at all.
