In an attempt to look like he's actually doing his job, and thus avoid Santana's wrath, on Wednesday Golbez hands out a pop quiz on the inner solar system. If you've been paying even the slightest amount of attention to your textbook, you should have no trouble passing.

Feel free to look over your friends' shoulders or whatever it is kids do when they cheat.

b) [ after school/closed ]

Some of the people in this city are battle-hardened warriors, and some of them are twelve-year-old tennis players. Golbez has taken a liking to Kevin -- he's one of the more sensible students around here -- and so has taken it upon himself to train the boy in how to actually fight.

After one such session, Golbez sits beside Kevin in the clearing in the woods they've appropriated for their use and pulls a bottle of juice out of his bag. He hands it over wordlessly, suspecting Kevin might need it.

If Kevin is exceeding expectations, it's because he's copying Golbez's movements. Though a lot of the skills he uses to play tennis haven't carried over very well to the combat used in Exaclan, the one ability that has is his memorization. Ever since that match with Ryoma, his ability to copy seen movement has been growing exponentially, to the point that he only has to see it a handful of times before he can mimic it almost perfectly.

Although that raises a new question of how well his body can take the strain of moves performed by someone much larger than he. Needless to say, that's something he's been working on perfect in his off time at the courts.

"Well, guess we'll worry about it when it happens." He remarks with a shrug and stretches his legs out, letting his muscles ease out off the strain he put on them. "You doing okay, by the way? The she-devil ain't giving you more problems, is she?"

He has been a bit concerned about how well Kevin's been doing, but unless he actually complains about it or shows himself to be having significant trouble, Golbez won't say anything about it.

He just glances over and shakes his head. "No, she hasn't done anything lately." Mainly because Golbez learned his lesson two rounds ago. Santana hasn't given him any problems because he hasn't given her reason to. "And yourself? She hasn't been causing any trouble for you, I hope."

At that, Kevin seemed to give a hesitant pause. One he tried to cover by suddenly grabbing the towel around his neck and running it over his head like he still had sweat left on his skin. He didn't know if he could call it trouble exactly, but it wasn't exactly a cake walk either.

"Not really." He finally answered after a moment, feeling awkward. "Nothing unusual, anyway." He added, thinking that what was now his morning routine couldn't really classify as a problem. To be honest, he was starting to wonder if he should've stayed in the communal dorms.

Yep, Golbez notices that pause. He watches Kevin for a moment, but doesn't press him for more details.

"Good." If there were a serious problem, he at least hopes that Kevin would say something, but he can't make him if he doesn't want to. It doesn't help that he feels somewhat responsible for Kevin's position as a prefect -- it looked like having a star appear was, indeed, a prerequisite for the position.
