[ on each desk there was ink, paper and jars.

arthur stood in front of his class and begin to explain what was going to happen for the day ]

Good afternoon, class. Today's lesson can be difficult — we're going to learn how to identify different fingerprints.

[ he's dipping his fingers in the ink and pressing it against the paper ]

Once you've made your finger print, exchange with your partner, and I shall go over the instructions.

[Marik does as he's told...a bit too eagerly, I might add. His finger print is a little smudged in having to press it down really fast and all.]

[ Rose goes about her printing much more slowly, feeling for the ink jar and paper before dipping her finger in and applying it to the proper surface. Then she passes her print to her left, assuming somebody's there from the sound of breathing. ]

[ he watches rose, the way she presses the ink is very delicate and careful enough not to smudge ]

Good job, Rose. You know what you're doing.

[ She gives a hollow smile. ]

I'll take your word for it. It's a pity the grooves of one's fingers aren't deep enough to observe through touch.

[ he was a teacher, it was his job to ask ]

Are you all right, Rose?

[ She goes red. She didn't need pity. ]

Physically fine. Just a little lacking in the vision department, is all.

[ Oh, great. And in front of the whole class, too. ]

[ arthur goes red as well.

Ah, I meant....

[ what did he even mean? she looked depressed, he wanted to know if she was feeling all right ]

I was going to ask if you were upset.

No. [ She doesn't really feel like spilling her heart out to a stranger right now. ] But I'll update you if that changes.

What should I do with the fingerprint? [ Staring hard at a spot about three inches to his left. She means, "what do I do with it if I can't see it". ]

[ he's feeling guilty now, he probably should have asked her earlier... but he didn't know ]

I apologize, Rose. I didn't have any idea.

It's fine. [ Argh, she's still being singled out! This is really not helping! ]

I've gotten rather good at disguising it. I'll consider it a compliment.
