So, from what I've been able to figure out, it looks like people arrive in this city pretty regularly -- once a week exactly.
We have to play along with this place's rules and fight each other or we'll be punished, we have to go to school or we'll be punished, and so forth.

Since I'm new here, naturally I'm rather out of the loop, so there's a lot I have yet to learn.
For now I'd like to get to know my fellow prisoners, if that's all right with you.
So if you don't mind, tell me -- What is your name, which school are you at, and where were you before you came here?

Oh, don't think I haven't noticed that part. Thought I'd go slow, bring up the tip of the iceberg rather than go crashing into the whole thing all at once.
And don't think I haven't noticed those people, either. Even I don't quite know what to make of them.
I've been working off of the assumption that I'm an only child, but come to think of it, there's no reason to trust my own memories in that regard.

they are your alternate universe siblings. i don't know that there's more that needs to be said. here, even intra-universal relationships may be dissolved thanks to the aforementioned memories.
as for my own familial background, i can only assume that i did not grow up a hermit in my own home, but for the life of me i cannot remember another human individual in the house.

i am. i gather from your familiarity with the vernacular and your nomenclature similarities that you have your own.

That makes sense. In another world where things happened differently, I see no reason I couldn't have had siblings. The parents I can't remember may have made different choices.
Sure are some pretty deep and personal memories the game decided to take from us.
