I see. Such a thing is uncommon in my home universe.
Although come to think of it, I believe the common practice where I am from is to simply ask whether or not the other person will accept being wed to you. Is that perhaps too forward for your tastes?
:O john thats so cute!! i actually dont know how you get married in rakuen but i bet we could find out if we went to the library or asked the mayor or something
Of course! Everybody is invited! It will be a merry celebration for all! Well, he hasn't said yes yet, and I don't know how to propose, let alone throw a party without the luxuries I had as King.
Perhaps we should ask the mayor then. He would know this land's traditions more than anyone, I would think. Wait. I don't know what a mayor is.
i think you have to get down on one knee and offer him a ring! but maybe you should also offer him a link charm too? because that is kind of like being married but in exaclan
hehe she is a really nice lady who runs the town! we should talk to her i think, because she knows all the rules and stuff
Well where I come from usually people just ask. I know it's traditional for guy to ask the girl, but as I can see here, that doesn't really apply. My brother's boyfriend just asked him, but it's a bit more complex than that with vampires.
I don't know how or if people are using them that way, but I know there are Link charms at Rakettear that join two people together. I think that's the closest we could come to a Rakuen-exclusive tradition.
It may seem silly, but here's kind of what I think about getting engaged to someone. I come from a world where there's no exchanging of property per se, just a more symbolic gesture of giving someone a usually rather expensive ring.
When you get engaged to someone, even if you're not giving them something of physical value, you're offering them yourself, something of great emotional value. Or so I'd hope, if he feels the same way.
But if you're set on something, I think something that's important to the both of you is more effective than something expensive.
I'm used to waiting a bit longer. It's more typical to me for people to get to know each other for a couple of years before they get married. But shorter dating periods aren't uncommon.
I don't understand what this has to do with excrement fornicating with its mother, but I have decided I would like to marry Sir David. Do not worry. I don't harbor similar feelings for you. Our relationship is strictly friends-only.

Perhaps you should deliver the vows. I live to make you uncomfortable.
But this supposed "dating" leads to marriage, does it not? I do not understand your customs. How about next time, you assume I don't know what you're talking about?

I would rather follow tradition back home, but neither his parents nor any of my property are here.

Unfortunately, I haven't any advice on the matter myself. Perhaps the city library might have books that could advise you on the matter.
no subject
I suppose I could do that.

It is not but I think I should present something to him at least.

Ah, yes. That's a good point. What sorts of offerings are customary to your land?

But. Hm, a ring, you say? Is that common from where you are from?
She sounds like a splendid lady.
Perhaps we can converse with her after work.

I hope to get to know him better through marriage, however.
