Meet and Greet [Intro #2]

You are brought to your campus and shown to your dorm rooms before you are given permission to wander the campus and the town. Meaning Fortitude students can mingle with Conquest students, they can go visit the shop (shop post will be up later today), or speak to the headmistresses and mayor. Each student now has the Exaclan manuals, a uniform, a school bag with either a shield or a sword on it, and the glove used to pull weapons.

But make sure to come to the battle area later to see the exhibition match!

Take advantage of the free day, the freedom won't last long. Sooner rather than the later the round will start, Players will be named, Weapons will lose their privileges, and the battles will begin. So you might as well go out and make friend or start rivalries, anything to help you along later in the round.

Suzaku didn't get changed. He was not planning on staying here, he was so confused though, the confrontation on the train had given him a headache.

He left his room and walked out the gates, he looked like he had a purpose but he didn't, not really. Not past finding a way out of here and working out what was going on.

What an odd outfit, Becca thought to herself as she passed the cloaked boy. He obviously hadn't changed for school yet, but then, neither had she. "D'you think you're a wizard or something?" she asked, commenting on the cloak.

Suzaku blinked at the Britannian woman who spoke to him. He was a little surprised she didn't recognize the outfit, even if she didn't recognize him.

"I am a knight miss," he said politely.

"A knight? Isn't that from like...hundreds of years ago?" she asked in disbelief. She didn't really know what to say to him, and while it was easy enough to accept aliens, it was harder to accept humans acting strangely.

Suzaku blinked, "Well yes miss, but they still exist today." How did she not know that?

He was pretty sure she was Britannian, even if she wasn't Britannian she should know about Britannia and about Knights. "Where do you come from?"

"I'm from America," she answered. "Indianapolis, Indiana," she went on, making it a bit more specific. "That's cool, I didn't know that about knights. Where are you from, England?"

"From where?" Suzaku frowned and inwardly berated himself, he had helped Lelouch draft the law giving back all the Area's their names, and yet he had never heard of this America. Perhaps it was part of the EU.

"Is it part of the EU?" He asked her before shaking her head. He had heard of England of course, as part of Britannian history, but it was strange she would think he was from there.

"I am an honorary Britannian," he told her, "And Japanese originally."

"No, America's America, y'know, the United States?" she asked. That was two people now that hadn't heard of it. "But that's cool, did you like, move to England when you were little?" she asked, thinking that by 'Britannian' he meant 'British'.

"United States of what?" This was just getting confusing he shook his head again, "Not England, that's the other side of the world. Britannia and sort of... I joined their army..."

"Of America. And I thought Britain was England," she said, her face lighting up with confusion. She didn't get this at all, and she didn't really know what to think.

Suzaku frowned and shook his head, "Not Britain, Britannia. The Holy Empire of Britannia. How can you not know them, they conquered most of the world."

"You mean the Holy Roman Empire? But that was like...two thousand years ago," she insisted, not that she was getting her history right.

Suzaku looked at her. "No." He didn't have time for this, he had to find a way out of here.

He shook his head and walked off.

Changed and amused at what she considered a quaint uniform, Britannia had left her room shortly afterward to get a better sense of this island city. Not for the first time she wondered at its location, or who had setup such an elaborate scheme, but for now she was willing to play along.

After all, this was perhaps the first time in her life that her immediate concerns weren't which country to invade next. It was kind of refreshing.

So among this sea of similarly clad people, it was no small wonder that she spotted Suzaku in his non-conforming outfit first, causing her to beeline towards him.

"Didn't like the uniform?" She asked, voice bright.

Suzaku stared at the woman who was still claiming to be Britannia and shrugged. She was wearing the uniform, but the different one to his. Which meant she was in the other school, luckily.

"Don't like the place, why are we here?" he looked at her in confusion.

"Are you really Britannia?" Because that made no sense... As little sense as being here...

Shrugging in answer to his first question, she slid her hands into her pockets and set her legs apart, shifting into a very casual stance. She supposed she should have prepared for that question, but to be honest Suzaku was the first one who seemed actually ready to believe her. Maybe not right away but there was that inkling, which was nice considering all of the people she'd had to deal with up until now.

Maybe, with some luck, Gino would too. (Zero could trip on a rake, for all she cared.)

"Should I prove it to you? I'm not really sure how though."

"It makes no sense how can you be an entire country?" Suzaku shook his head, it must be some sort of weird joke. But she looked entirely serious.

"And if you are Britannia, how comes I have never met you before?" After all he was Lelouch's Knight and Lelouch was the emperor however he had taken the throne. If the country was an actual person, surely people would know about it...

At both of Suzaku's questions, Britannia gave an artless shrug and seemed rather unperturbed at the prospect of answering either of them.

"Who knows? Probably the same way all the others are." She wouldn't admit that she'd never thought to ask them before this, nor that she'd ever really been in a position to. When you set out to conquer the entire civilized world, it didn't really leave a lot of time for pondering the philosophical aspects of their existence. "But you probably don't know about me because I don't really talk to the knights or nobles. Most of them aren't fun to be around." She added with a grin.

"I do talk to the emperor once in a while though."

"So all the countries are people?" And she what? Captured them and held them prisoner? Was she the force behind all the battles that Suzaku had witnessed and fought in, or had she been just another pawn of Charles and Schneizel.

He shrugged at her comment about Knights and Nobles, he avoided most of them as well, but for different reasons.

"You talk to Lelouch?" Lelouch had never mentioned her, he frowned quietly.

"Yes, you met Kiku already." She reminded him. "On the train, he's Area 11."

If Suzaku had actually asked her that question aloud, she would have chuckled and narrowed her eyes. No, she wasn't the cause of victory in those battles, that was all the will and power of her people. Though she would have objected the wording, a pawn was probably fairly accurate on her actual position within the Empire. Just a watcher of each and every emperor's accomplishments, nothing more than a chronicler of time with how much they actually let her do. It was... pretty annoying.

The second question, however, made her blink.

"Who's Lelouch? The current ruler is the 98th Emperor, Charles zi Britannia."

"Japan," Suzaku corrected quietly, he wasn't just being stubborn Lelouch had given all the areas back their names and had began giving them back their freedoms when he had taken power.

"Lelouch vi Britannia is the 99th Emperor, he took over Charles about six months ago." Wait shouldn't she know this if she was Britannia?

Any frown Britannia might have had at Suzaku referring to a conquered area by its former name was abolished with his claim that the empire had already progressed to its 99th emperor. Even more absurd, that he claimed that person was the dead son of a dead woman.

"Marianne's son? Impossible. Even if Lelouch was alive and Charles was killed, which isn't likely," given that whole thing he and V.V. had going on, "he would be succeeded by Odysseus or Schneizel. Lelouch also renounced his title of being Charles's 17th successor in 2009." All this she said with a tone similar to that of someone reading a dictionary aloud.

Suzaku frowned and shook his head, how did she not know if she was who she claimed to be. "Lelouch is alive, he was in Japan, he survived and now Charles is gone. Lelouch took the throne."

He shrugged, "We are fighting Schneizel at the moment, well before we came here..."

"That's why I'm saying it's impossible. There is no way the royal family would allow Lelouch to come out of nowhere and take the throne. Not unless it was a coup d'etat and he murdered both Charles and all those in front of him in the succession line." And, okay, so he'd managed to survive and hide himself for all these years, but she had a hard time imagining that such a spoiled child could possibly compare to the rest of his family. Especially when the men and women in question had been trained to look for threats in every shadow, most especially from those whom they shared blood with.

"Unless he managed to get a powerful ace up his sleeve, there's just no way any of it could have happened."

Suzaku frowned, "It happened." Apparently everyone had forgotten things, something that had been done to them by this place. "It was a coup d'etat Charles is dead, so is Marianne," he frowned, "Schneizel has joined with the Black Knights, we are fighting him at the moment."
