On the platform: Meet the new characters!

As you all crowd onto the platform and peer through the thick fog that chills the air, you are met by four girls and five boys. One of the girls is a somewhat humanoid grey-skinned, finned alien, but the rest all seem human. All nine are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the dense fog. They're all sodden and cold, and most are irritable. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - three depicting a shield on green, the other six a sword on red.

At the first lull in the chatter, one sickly-pale, shield-crested girl speaks up, cutting through your conversations with her cold, soft voice.

"Attention, please."

She explains that the nine of them are the current prefects of Rakuen, representing the two schools on the island. Nanami, she points to herself, Yuri and Lelouch of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Feferi, Gino, Nephenee and Kevin of Conquest. She doesn't care to explain why the prefects in red and white outnumber those in green and black two to one.

Santana interrupts, "Yeah, yeah. Look, come over when your name is called so we can all get inside." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other, and the two that spoke read off names from their clipboards.

Ugh, I hate that word, recuperacoons are dumb too, how do you get any rest covered in slime? You just wake up messy and gross.

This is Rakuen, you're going to school now.

You clean off after, and the slime helps you sleep. I wouldn't dream of sleeping without one! Do you know a lot of trolls?

Actually, I think I'm good for schoolfeeding... but okay, if that's where this is going. [Might as well let the memory run its course. It would only take longer to get out if she avoided it.]

Well, it sucks for you, we don't have those here. You can probably buy one from Recette but it'll cost you. Hope your roommate don't mind a slime filled cocoon in their room. I know enough, I've been with Dolorosa for long enough.

Trust me, you haven't learned what we're teaching.

Well, I guess that is something I'll have to get used to... [No recuperacoons floating around furthest ring and all that.]

What are you teaching?

I personally am not teaching, I'm a student just like you, but in Conquest we have Advanced Summoning, Astronomy, Battle Tactics, Cooking, Crime Solving, Dance and Hairography, Economics and Money Management, Existentialism and the Anxiety of Immortality versus the Anxiety of Mortality, Fashion, Gardening/Farming, Geology, Government, Poisons, Prussian Military Tactics and Training, Science of Deduction, and Sword Fighting. Fortitude has other classes.

[That is a lot of classes. Is Hairography really a word?] They sound interesting... did you say Geology?

[It's kind of like archaeology? But not as close as it could be, so slight disappointment there.]

Yeah, the teacher is new, I guess we're going to study rocks or something. Boring.

Do you think there will be anything about really ancient rocks, or maaaybe fossils?

[straightupzorra]

Wow, do I even look like I care about rocks?

Okay, fine. Forget I asked. [no fun at all]

I will, I have more important things to do than think about rocks.
