On the platform: Meet the new characters!

As you all crowd onto the platform and peer through the thick fog that chills the air, you are met by four girls and five boys. One of the girls is a somewhat humanoid grey-skinned, finned alien, but the rest all seem human. All nine are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the dense fog. They're all sodden and cold, and most are irritable. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - three depicting a shield on green, the other six a sword on red.

At the first lull in the chatter, one sickly-pale, shield-crested girl speaks up, cutting through your conversations with her cold, soft voice.

"Attention, please."

She explains that the nine of them are the current prefects of Rakuen, representing the two schools on the island. Nanami, she points to herself, Yuri and Lelouch of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Feferi, Gino, Nephenee and Kevin of Conquest. She doesn't care to explain why the prefects in red and white outnumber those in green and black two to one.

Santana interrupts, "Yeah, yeah. Look, come over when your name is called so we can all get inside." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other, and the two that spoke read off names from their clipboards.

It might sound c-crazy, but I u-usually see these things around p-people, sort of like auras, but they look like shadows. D-do you know wh-why I c-can't?

Any ability you previously had does not work here.

... S-so... I'm like a n-normal human? [There's a faint hint of a smile on his lips, almost as if he was afraid to believe it.]

[mamarosa]

I can not claim normality for you, your definition may vary wildly from mine, but here your abilities lie with the weapon residing in your body.

[afraid_of_my_shadow]

Just w-with that weapon? nothing should b-be strange about us? [Alex laughs a bit, cheered by the news, before stopping to look curiously at Dolorosa.] But, no o-offense, you're n-not human.

[mamarosa]

That's right, only the weapon is an oddity.

[she laughs a bit]

You are correct, I'm not a human, my race is known as trolls.

[Alex smiled a bit at the name, instantly thinking of the internet brand of trolls.] A-are you held to t-troll standards then?

[mamarosa]

I'm afraid I do not understand what you are asking.

[afraid_of_my_shadow]

Well, i-if I am like a n-normal human here, then d-do other races only the the n-normal qualities for their races?

[mamarosa]

There are plenty here with unique abilities, but those have all been stripped away and replaced with the weapon inside of them. For many they will find the abilities of their weapon mirror the abilities they had back home.

That d-doesn't sound s-so bad....
