Movovie Night
Characters: EveryoneThe time has come. Seven o'clock on the dot and Dirk is standing at the front of the viewing room in the city library to one side of the screen which is currently tuned to static, remote control in one of his hands.
Format: Whichever you prefer
This log is: open
Location: Rakuen Public Library's media viewing room
Summary: Dirk shows off some 21st century cinematic masterpieces.
Warnings: Horrible movies. Swearing from Striders. The usual.
There's plenty of room for everyone who shows up. The accommodations are a bit more classroom-like than he'd have liked -- tables and chairs for everyone to sit at -- but scattered about are some snacks and drinks he's scavenged from the Fortitude cafeteria.
Sit down. Watch these films. There are ten of them, and Dirk can go all night.

"Hi Dirk! Are you here to have fun with me? Do you want to meet my new friends?"

Prospit is surprisingly similar in architectural design to Derse, but everything is so bright it would have blinded him if he weren't wearing his shades.
Dirk spends a few minutes figuring out the general lay of the land. He instinctively wants to keep to back alleys, and whenever a Prospitian spots him it's all he can do not to start wandering aimlessly, pretending to be sleepwalking. Old habits die hard.
He does find Jade before long, though, and waves when she sees him.
"No time for that, Harley. It's almost seven."

"Your movies, right? We're watching them?"
She excuses herself from the gaggle of friends, hugging them each and wishing them well before slipping away to meet Dirk. Jade takes his hand and starts walking. "Do you like it here? Isn't it nice?"
no subject
"It's definitely something. It's gonna take a while to get used to. I kind of miss the horrorterrors," he says sardonically.

He looks up. So bright... So unlike what he's used to when he sleeps.
"It's nice, yeah."

As he says so, he briefly flickers out of existence to check on things back in the viewing room. It isn't long before he reappears, though.

"I'll be there in a minute, okay? I don't actually know how to wake up once I'm asleep..." She guesses she can go back to the tower she came from and lay down, fall asleep again. That would work.
no subject
"I don't think Prospit here works the same way as Prospit and Derse back home. You just poof out of existence when you wake up here, instead of your dream self falling asleep. Try jumping off a tall building. Die in a dream, wake up in real life." Since arriving in Rakuen, he's become fairly sure that that's the general rule.

She backs away from Dirk, tears welling up in her eyes. "Why would I want to do that?"

Looking down, there's no reason why they should be; they look normal, as usual. She takes another step and trips over absolutely nothing. There's a shriek as Jade falls backward. Her dreamself disappears as it hits the ground.

"Jade!"
In shock, he's no longer able to stay tethered to sleep. He jolts awake and looks up at Alex, who's shaking his shoulder.

Well, completely soaked and also a little bit irritated. "I was in the lake!"

He grabs a towel from the pile he's brought in case of unexpected (okay, inevitable) soda spills and tosses it to her.
"How did that happen? Are you okay?"
no subject
This is the most obvious explanation; someone picked her up while she was asleep on Prospit and carried her to the lake, setting her down on her feet before shoving her into the lake proper.
This makes so much sense to Jade it is positively unreal.
She grabs the towel and starts drying herself off, flopping it over her head.

(Again.)
"We can put this off for a little while if you want to go change. And figure out who did that."
