Location: Rakuen Public Library's media viewing room
Summary: Dirk shows off some 21st century cinematic masterpieces.
Warnings: Horrible movies. Swearing from Striders. The usual.

The time has come. Seven o'clock on the dot and Dirk is standing at the front of the viewing room in the city library to one side of the screen which is currently tuned to static, remote control in one of his hands.

There's plenty of room for everyone who shows up. The accommodations are a bit more classroom-like than he'd have liked -- tables and chairs for everyone to sit at -- but scattered about are some snacks and drinks he's scavenged from the Fortitude cafeteria.

Sit down. Watch these films. There are ten of them, and Dirk can go all night.

She's star-struck by the movie, watching the actors fall down the stairs again and again, and even the random photoshop filters. Eventually she elbows Dirk to ask an important question.

"Was this made by Dave?"

There's a small grin on Dirk's face when she asks that.

"Yeah. By the Dave from my side of the Scratch."

[greenspaces]

"So he's your Bro? Does that mean he's cooler over there?"

[fracturedsoul]

"Yeah, but that's not hard. Your Dave's a total dork." But he says it with love. "I call him my bro, but it's more complicated than that. I can explain later when we're not in the middle of this."

[greenspaces]

"He's--" she was going to argue that, but instead she just giggles. "Okay, he kind of is. But you can't blame him! Maybe your Dave was a dork too, when he was little."

"Will you? I want to know."

[fracturedsoul]

"Maybe. Got no way to find out, so I'll just continue this mild, self-aware form of hero worship for now."

And he nods to her. "Sure. Couldn't hurt."

[greenspaces]

She smiles. It's like being included in a super cool secret. "Your universe seems totally different than ours. Why's that?"

[fracturedsoul]

"For want of a nail. Your world reset and made mine, and the different positions all eight of us wound up in changed a bunch of shit. There's a few other differences that aren't accounted for by that, like my gender and Dave not having been mute where I'm from, but I think it's the Scratch that did most of it."

He keeps his voice low to keep from distracting anyone else.

[greenspaces]

"Sis wasn't Sis in my universe, either. She was Bro. And Dave talked."

"...huh."

So Jade... isn't from the exact same world as Dave. It must be a situation like with the two Johns, one deaf and the other not.

"One mystery solved, then."

[greenspaces]

"What do you mean?" Of course, she already knew that she wasn't from the same universe as Dave; the moment she realized that he couldn't talk it was obvious, she thought. But then again, Dirk wouldn't know that.

[fracturedsoul]

"I just never knew you two weren't from the same world, that's all."

[greenspaces]

"It's okay. Our worlds are probably so close together that it doesn't even matter."

[fracturedsoul]

On-screen, Jeff HAS the car and is driving it into a pond.

"Yeah. Closer than yours and mine, anyway. Shit, this is way too complicated."

[greenspaces]

Jeff, what are you doing... "Dirk, this movie isn't very well written."

[fracturedsoul]

He just glances over at her, one eyebrow raised. "Don't know what you were expecting."
